The twins get a bad rap for not being able to fight. But I think it's too much to ask a top three scorer to fight their own battles. Call it old school but I don't want my best players spending 5 minutes per period in the box.

I want my big, mean Dman to get in between and start knocking out teeth. The same nasty disposition that clears the front of nets and makes skilled players think twice when flying across the blue line. I don't care if they can score.

And no to Lucic type players. I want tough hockey players... not meatheads.

Botchford saying Canucks should sign Russell over Hamhuis.
Why do these morons have jobs in this industry?

- Scooby_Doo

I find Botch entertaining but he is a bit of a tool.

Russell and Hammer are essentially the same player just Russell blocks more shots. Not a fan of either signing if that's that case.

Having said that I wonder if Brandon Sutter has lobbied to MNGT on signing Russell as this is not the first I have heard of it. They are real good buddies here at the Red Deer Summer pro camps we have at my Arena. Interesting this pops up now...

hmmmm...thinking emoticon...

Whoever wins the cup that year is the model for everyone haha. I've got my own model it's way way better then any other model.
- manvanfan

I know.
It's bonkers.

If a big team wins - oh that's the magic recipe
if a hot goaltenders is key - that's what we need!
if speed and scoring leads the way - hey, why don't we get that on our team?

oh totally.
We have moved on from teh Detroit model, to the chicago model, quickly went past the Boston model and will now be unveiling our version of the San Jose model next year.

the blackhawks stink, it's like they just have a great core of Dmen, Centres and scoring wingers and manage to trade in their young stars for future stars and picks to keep the team relevant.

- dbot

They have had great success turning the blackhawks around but I can't give that (frank)ing franchise any credit. I dislike the whole deal. All of it.

"The Model'"is one of those overused phrases that should be banned. It seems to me the canucks always want to emulate those who beat them.

I wish the canucks would just follow the "smart hockey management model" for once.

see every team has something, so why not take that one thing every season and add it to your team. One year get some size, next year add speed, year after a top quality D. Sooner or later hopefully you get it all together and have a shot at the cup. I know you can't hope everything to pan out exactly as planned but at least try. Getting size year after year and neglecting other things because that's what won the cup makes no sense.

The only model you need is good management.
Draft good players, sign good players to good contracts, hire a good coach/scouts, make good trades, etc.

Oh. How much more physical do you want them to be?

My perception is that the twins usually play a cycle game. That requires them to play down low and in the corners a lot. Many goals come from the corner out to a brother in front of the net. They ain't terribly fast skaters so they ain't hard to get a hold of.

Henrik is ranked 7th all time with 679 consecutive games played. And he didn't get there by shying away from the tough areas. Think of the number of games played and the total minutes. It's impressive their durability. You have to be tough to withstand that abuse.

I remember Bertuzzi female doging and whining to the media about being roughed up. Never heard the twins female dog once.

I think they are physical and very tough but just don't fight or lay big body checks. I'm ok with that.

That's a given. But even if she's poor, looking at that face every day can't be worth the $5m he comes with now. He won't be rich for long.

I've handed timeouts to quite a few trolls for that characterization of the twins...
