Not sure I like this, sven. All of a sudden you're my bff
Well for me it was always the Rangers. And I've followed Zuccarello for like 12 years. |

I don't know why sweden and usa didn't send good squads since the other countries are. my guess would be the world cup that is in september - martox
That, very well could be the reason. Point of reference (because I have too much time on my hands). 1790 NHL games are on Sweden's roster. 2331 are on the USA's. The difference is basically Nick Foligno and his 617 (only 541 difference).
Goalies - Sweden big advantage in NHL games
Defense - Sweden 633 to 449 (based on Ekholm and Larsson mostly)
Fact is, neither team really fielded a good team. The Americans are relying on several players that have come directly out of college (Motte, Compher, Demko, Fasching, Wood and Santini). A lot of key components are missing from both. |

I think Wilson could be very well the second coming of Kunitz as in the younger version. Sheary will be fine. Sprong has to work on a few things before he is ready. Not too sure people understand that ... the one's that keep bringing him up as in put him in the lineup NOW. - Oneonta Penguin
it was the same way with pouliot and kapanen. everyone wants to put them in so they can see them play and understandably so cuz they are/were our most touted prospects. I for one DO understand that to become a great player TIME and DEDICATION is needed. for some people it takes more time. they can't all be like mattaa (who has went down hill ever since his first season). |

Was watching that's hockey tonight. It looks like Bishop really isn't close to coming back after all. Says he feels better but doubtful he returns Friday. |

Love the gamesmanship bs this time of year ... day to day. LOL. I saw the video of him taking shots in practice, but after watching him being carted off on a stretcher and in agony, I find it hard to believe he is an option. I read Stamkos might not be ready to come back. |

If we can get a quick goal on Friday we could really start to get into Vassy's head, get those emotions out early. |

On the NHL radio station, they said he's not playing this year no matter if they won this series or not. |

That video of him taking shots does not look like a guy that's ready to face 45 "real" shots.
Stamkos is the mystery. I've felt all along that he wouldn't return. I remember Duper and Vokoun taking sooooooo long to even consider returning.....but who knows. Maybe it's a different problem in some way. |

I think Kunitz will be back next year and he absolutely will be overpaid. He won't retire.....I'm certain of that. I highly doubt the Pens go the "buyout" route for such a respected player. - madmike71
I don't think buyout makes sense unless our cap issues are bigger than I think. The following year we have the Murray coming off elc. That could be expensive. Bonino and Daley are UFA. Bonino is a maybe on resigning. Daley if he plays like he is right now will get term from somebody. I want nothing to do with that. I'd offer him a 1 year deal if Pouliot isn't ready to step up (or schultz). But basically that offseason I want Kunitz and Scuderi completely off the books.
Kunitz is overpaid now, but when we was a legit top 6 guy he was underpaid. His contract isn't as bad as scuderi. We got a top 6 guy for a couple years and current kunitz a bit overpaid. If Kunitz was UFA he would get a guaranteed contract offer this offseason. Not sure for how much. Probably 1.5-2 if I had to guess. If someone is willing to trade for Kunitz this offseason even with 600k retained I would think very hard about.
He had 17 goals and 23 assists this year. I think the analytic guys still think he's ok. So we may be able to trade him for cap. If not you just need to let him play it out. |

I know its paying us huge dividends with the expansion draft and likely rules. But why did we give Fleury a partial NTC instead of a full NTC. I think Fleury only has to list 12 teams he would accept a trade to. Any goalie should be able to come up with 12 teams that would have zero interest in him. Its not like a NTC on a guy like Kessel where a partial NTC can still lead to a trade. At the end of the day Fleury will have to accept a trade. |

Dumo is also a RFA the year Murray is, and he won't come cheap. |

Was thinking the same thing after watching that video. Almost wants me to think facing Bishop would be better. |

Yup. A quick one, hopefully with a big defensive breakdown should do it. Time to start chirping him too. |

I dont think Kunitz is near as bad as most around here think. I also think we'll see a little resurgence from him now he's back on Sid's line. In 4 periods together he already has a goal. The guy still hits hard and wins battles and he still has a decent speed. His hands are bit stone'ish some games but even if he's not producing he's never a liability. I know someone is going to bring up the other night when he fanned on a shot and they went the other way in scored but he's far from the only reason they scored fanning on a shot in the offensively zone. |
