Fast and skilled, probably a year and a half away from making Sabres. But draft him to go along with signing Campbell or Goligoski. Then trade for Skinner or Nash and also sign a guy like Stempniak or Purcell we can make the playoffs next year.

I want no part of Skinner, we have him in Ennis and I don't even want him.

El Paso.

Frankly I'm not sure I see that as an upgrade from standing pat and drafting.

This does nothing for them though. Girgensons is what he is and they are already loaded on D. Have to think if they moved him teams would be interested, probably get a pick somewhere in the first round and a roster player or forward prospect.

I honestly don't see a scenario where this team gets better and stands pat at the draft. It's worth nothing i think they have 0 shot at stamkos and that i have mixed feelings on yandle.

Goligoski is a perennial 30+ point guy and left shot D, Skinner is a fast LW who scored 28 goals last year Stempniak is 10x better than Girgensons right now and tore it up last year (home town discount) possible as well, and Helm is a speedy great 4th line center upgrade over Legwand

Fair enough. Don't know enough about Carolina's pipeline at D. We can't offer them a 1st. Especially with his concussion history. I could see a 2nd ground pick Foligno and Baptiste would be a decent trade for them

Could also see...

Shattenkirk for 8th overall pick
Pysyk Girgensons 3rd round pick for Eberle

Only down side here is you have 3 top 4 RHD and still no top pairing LHD...

I really hope Murray realizes that this current team is incredibly slow. Speed wins in the post season

Prob is shaft shoots right and why would EDM trade wheels, a guy who showed chemistry with mcJesus for that?? Overvaluing the Sabre players

I'd have to wait and see who's available at 8. If it's Juolevi I take him and save a ton of money. If it's Sergachev then probably make the deal. Especially with the fact that Murray doesn't seem to care for Russians all that much.

Edit: For Eberle it would probably be something like Pysyk, Foligno, 2 2nds. Value-wise that's an NHL16 trade where you just throw bunch at them and the value equals out, but in this case the whole(Eberle)O is greater than the sum of its parts(Pysyk, Foligno, 2 2nds). Real world I don't really see a deal, unless it's for next years first.

I don't think you can ice a team full of Ennis's but I always hated the size argument. Most players either play bigger or smaller than they are anyways.

We need to be able to win races and score in transition.

Unrelated but I'd love to see NHL 17 have an expansion draft feature where you can create your own team then go through the expansion and pick your players.

Not really... Oilers need D help badly. They also love Pysyk who is a local guy and puck mover/smart with the puck. They also get some grit and checking ability in Girgensons. Eberle is good but they have bigger needs at D

The previous regime liked Pysyk. Not sure the new one does.

I do think they would like a Girgensons or Foligno in a trade

Eberle isn't worth a first IMO... at least not one better than 20.... If we're giving up a first for a winger it better be in a package deal for Perry/Hall or if straight up then for Logan Couture (Wishful thinking... )

I was being a smartass. It's always what the team that's doing well right now has. It's size when the Blues are wrecking poop in the early rounds. It's speed when it's the Sharks and Lightning and Pens. You need to have both. You need a very good 1D, a very good 1C and a goalie that's playing extremely well. You need 3 lines going at any one time. You need to be healthy.

You need to have a good, well rounded team that gets its share, and some of the other guys as well, of bounces. And you need to stay healthy.

That's why I was saying next years. You don't make a trade for Eberle unless you're expecting to do big things. He's an icing on the cake guy. I just don't see a deal to be made with Edmonton that doesn't have a ton of moving parts.

I doubt even 8 for Couture even gets you a call back. Would be nice though. I'd take Pavelski too.
