All I've learned is Kessel and Bonino are two of the very best players in the league. Bonino should switch up with Crosby - walshyleafsfan
Hagelin's not bad and fast...I don't know much about Bonino....but we've watched Phil do ok with TO junk. |

He was point a game in his one and only playoff series with the Leafs
He was top 10 in scoring multiple times with the Leafs
Carlyle is full of it and that is why he is still unemployed. |

Yep. Glad Phil's gone to be honest. Good luck to him. Phil being traded was much more than just on ice stuff. Signalled a change in the Leafs direction. One I'm spunkaliciously excited about.
Unrelated. Will the Jays have a player hit .300 this year? |

I liked Kessel while he was here and hope he has success in Pittsburgh, but he needed to go. His return would have diminished if he put up numbers like he did this past season and there may not have been a taker at all. When things are going well Kessel shines, but when the going gets tough he shrinks and you people know that. - BetterCallSaul
I liked Kessel too, and agree he had to go. But really because it just wasn't the right fit in Toronto. Great player, wrong team and wrong time. You can't build a team around Kessel. You need, for example, Crosby, Malkin and Letang to go along with him. The Leafs had absolutely no way to get those players in their previous situation. They had to start from scratch.
I don't blame Kessel, or the fans or the media for the failed Burke/Nonis teams. I blame Burke and Nonis for a flawed build. It had some great pieces, and I think Kessel is an elite piece of a team, but it wasn't ever going to work the way it was put together. They had to hit the reset button, even if they took a loss on the trade. |

What a crock, They should have traded Bernier, while they still could, Bozak and JVR.
The team would have still come in last and then they would still have an elite scorer.
You know, cause who needs those.
And best of all they would still have gotten their culture change. |

Imagine Matthews feeding Kessel?
Although, I don't think someone on their ELC can afford to buy Kessel's groceries. And I don't think Bozak would like it all that much. |

Well the good news boys is that we can argue about Kessel all day, but the fact remains the Leafs are in a better situation than they've been in since forever. It's really hard to quibble about any part of the Shanaplan, because the turnaround in their outlook over a year and a half has been better than anyone could have hoped. It's a stupendous state of affairs.
Besides, a couple of years from now when they are further along, they won't need Kessel. They've got their big three prospects, maybe another high pick next season, and if they add Stamkos, Kessel would be the odd man out under the cap anyway. |

We could have traded Bernier?
I thought the new motto in here was "in Lou we Trust" then I see guys this morning still chirping about the fans that wanted Kessel gone.
