Methot IMO isnt a true #2 D...
His strength is that he has developed great chemistry with Karlsson and allows EK to do his thing at an elite level. Where would Methot slide in on a team playing for the cup? Thats the standard Im using because that is the ultimate goal.
I want to see our defence become more defensive.
We allowed so many shots per game last year it was ridiculous.
Methot (or a player like him) anchoring the third pairing IMO would be ideal as long as the #6 guy isn't a pylon.

- JN1980

There are stats to suggest that Methot has started to degrade in performance. I'm hopeful it has just been injuries impacting his effectiveness, but if he doesn't turn it around next year, things could be tricky.

Also FWIW I really hope they let Chabot warm up in the AHL for at least half a season.
Is he even eligible to play there this coming season? I really respect the Detroit model of letting talent ripen (almost over ripen) before they are promoted.

- JN1980

Chabot has signed his ELC, so I believe that will allow him to play for Sens, and be sent down to Bingo ( or Belleville? )

be good to see if Perron can outplay Marner in the Mem Cup. Just to see the reactions from Leaves fans to see Ottawa has a prospect on the same level as the 'next one'

Like when Perry outplayed Crosby in the Mem Cup, nobody wanted to admit it, because Crosby had so much glare on him, but it goes to show that these tournaments go a long way to determine the growth of the prospects.

He should have a good tournament, he's 20 yrs. old.

marner is 19....he should also have a good tournament. what's your point.

considering one was the 4th overall pick, and the other was the 190th overall pick....i don't think you assume that because the 2nd guy is 11 months older he'll play better.

Perron just turned 20 and Marner just turned 19. What's your point? They aren't exactly playing against pre-pubescent children.

They will probably both play well. I'm not sure I'd expect Perron to 'outplay' Marner. It may come down to which team is deeper. That Knights team is so dominant. A lot of top tier talent. I will be watching closely. Lotsa of prospects for various teams to be found on these teams.

Actually in some cases players will be 2 years younger. That does make a difference.
Perron could be great late bloomer, and if he is, he has to be dominant.
Marner will score his points. The real question for Marner, Perron, etc is what kind of a player will they be when they play against men. That answer is probably years away. Should be fun to watch, compare and speculate.Cheers.

Leaves fans are having a hard time considering Ceci might be better, and is certainly playing their little Dman, for Team Canada. They want to compare their guy to EK when he can't even outplay Ceci.

Imagine the uproar if a 7th round pick outplayed the greatest prospect on the planet!?!? Leave fans would just have a fit, they wouldn't be able to handle that.

I'm not going to do any mudslinging.

I think Reilly has really turned around his game in the past few games after a slow start.

Saw the corsi chart of some notable names:

Ceci has had a great tournament, but those are a lot of positive numbers for Canadian Dmen.

Stone has been all over the ice tonight. Rewarded with 3 points.

The d was amazing on that 6 on 3 pk for a full 2 minutes. standout plays by both Rielly and Ceci.

Man they play like what 6 games at the mem cup? You're telling me if Perron out plays Marner at the Mem cup that makes him at the same level? that's ridiculous. Marner and Perron aren't even in the same planet as prospects... a few games isn't going to change that and using Perry and Crosby as an example is kinda weird since crosby is far and away a better player then Perry. Also I've never seen anyone ever really compare Rielly to EK.. and maybe Ceci is playing better then Rielly at the Worlds idk I haven't even been watching but a small tournament doesn't make him a better player. Who's playing for the U23 world Cup team? Pretty ridiculous statements

Looks like things are starting off amicably enough.

Basically what it's saying is the husky team has different techniques offensively tham the reporter has never seen before. Style similar to that of Boucher when he coached in th4 q. My French is a tad rusty but I think that's the the juste of it They are also lead by their captain perron despite other high draft picks on their team.

It would appear that way. He has been a great player for them this year. A year or two in Ahl for some seasoning and he could definitely make an impact.

As some mention Chabot and his ELC. If he is Jr eligible he has to play either in the NHL or Jr regardless of his contract only exception would be an over ager. So he either plays in the N or the Q next year

No sold on Hoffman, no particular reason why.

Stone is fantastic.
