Please don't ever post an ESPN article on the NHL again in these boards if you want to be taken seriously.... and they agree with what I said. "Cap insurance" which basically means the Isles were at the floor and it gave them wiggle room to do things if they needed (they were so close to the floor that if they put someone on DL they fell below it.. so they would go a man short.. not kidding).

You're right. The deal was made for insurance of not falling below the cap floor if they made another trade before the deadline. Think about it, the deal was made late in the season so obviously they were cap compliant at the time and they didn't give up any players in the deal so they were already at the minimum like you said

Technically unless a ref tells you someone reported you, you wont know. Lots of times its just refs breezing through and maybe not liking something that was said.

You're right. The deal was made for insurance of not falling below the cap floor if they made another trade before the deadline. Well you can't go below the cap floor ever (you can circumvent it but the penalties are pretty strong) bUT while it may have been cap insurance it still helped out boston with their cap. A we will help you out for a favor in the future.
