You just have to wonder some times....

I know that you're going to say Stamkos and I agree that he can score, but he won't play the wing. Spending $10 million dollars for a second line centre is a waste of cap space. If he'd sign for 5 years, then no problem. Leafs are going to need that cap space, when all of their young guns come out of their entry level contracts. If you bridge them, you buy a couple of years, but it's better to give them more up front. By spreading it out over 8 years, instead of getting 2 or 3 cheap years at the start and have to renegotiate at a higher cap hit......like P.K. Subban, you can protect your cap. Habs could have given him an 8 year, $6 million contract, but bridged him instead. Now they're stuck with him at $9 million a copy. Very hard on the cap.

The Leafs are fine with the cap. You're probably assuming Nylander needs to resigned in two seasons for like $9million. THe most he will cost is $6million. Marner is 3-4 years away from needing to re-signed.

If you get to a point where you have way to many superstars and you are up against the cap. Then you pull a BlackHawk(I said Hawk you dirty bastards not...) You win cups.

I think next season - in Lupus' final year his cap hit is still $5.25 but he makes like $3mil. That could be a salary dump to a team trying to hit the floor. They see him as a $3mil dollar player - which he actually very much deserves when healthy.

Similar to phaneuf in ottawa. his $7mil cap hit means nothing, cuz they will never spend to the cap. In the later years of his deal he makes 6, 6, 5.5, 5.5 or something like that.

all our other dead cap deals end this year. Michalek, Laich, Greening(actually not terrible player)

ACES! It's all good in the Toronto Hood! And I live in Ottawa so I can attend games for relatively cheap.($80) which is cool, but whats cooler is watching Ottawa lose on weekday games to Nashville or Columbus for $20. Less than the cost to watch the OHL team.

PLUS! I get to chirp Sens fans - which might the entire reason I go!

They already said they don't think he can play next year, setting up robidas island..... Why on earth would they pay someone to take someone that isn't affecting their cap?
