Yeap....and in 3 years when the team is better...he'll likely be a third line guy with hands.
If Marner gets a little stronger this off-season he'll be with the Leafs. He's too good for Junior now. - Stormeysuperego
agreed..
Some fans get a little too excited about some of our prospects.. Hyman, Leivo, and Leipsic *could* be NHLers.. but its highly unlikely they'll amount to much.. I could see Hyman going to Detroit.. |

Last 2 years its been the same thing though … out 6-7 possible rentals to start the season, 3-4 are sold off at the TDL.

Perspective. Exactly.
Not all prospects turn into NHL'ers....most of ours (any team's) wont be regular NHL'ers.
Heck, even one of our top prospects could miss the NHL boat....I hope not...but they could.
Leivo, looks to be a good AHL'er. |

I was impressed with Hyman in game 7 for the Marlies last night.
He truly gave it 100% at both ends of the ice.
Now the NHL , to quote Josh Donaldson, is a get it done league vs try hard league, so don't know if he will make it as an NHL regular.
But I give the guy props for giving it his best shot. I personally think he could be an effective 4th liner who could pop in the odd goal because he has decent hands. |

they can still demote guys on one way deals
wouldnt be optimal cap wise but it still could be done. i dont think anyone on the leafs have an actual NMC now correct?
but lets face it... it is only year two of the rebuild... if they can move guys like that you mentioned out as the season progresses great... what will be tough is if the leafs actually do overachieve and are in the hunt for a playoff spot. if the leafs are in this position it will make things tough on management...because you would want those guys for the run... you still need leadership and experience on the roster or you become the oilers.
i also wouldnt be surprised if the leafs moved some of those guys you mentioned (young guys) over the off season in order to land a young top 4 d man (hopefully right handed) or a andersen type goalie. young enough to be around a long while... experienced enough not to be shell shocked. - Dozzer
I think JVR as one thats about to kick in? not sure but think so
Ive been wrong about everything the last couple days so ... |

Depends on how he was in the room.
If he was a bit of a leader and good with the younger kids, I could see them re-upping him for another year.

(frank) rentals...
they water down the content..
they have to make being a leaf a privilege...
a couple years ago no one wanted to come play in TO.. now its probably a very desirable place to play. - Arctic_AARDVARK
part of the privilege is making rookies earn their roster spot ... by beating out veterans during training camp for a job.

I havent been into hockey at all this year.
Dont even care about the playoffs...I've watched minimal amount of games compared to years gone by.
However, the Memorial cup is always a fave of mine.....looking forward to that.
World cup.....meh....they've made it kind of a joke.
Draft and free agency should definitely be interesting. |

I think they would be willing, but it really depends on the price. I think someone else will offer more $ and/or term.

The only one i could potentially see missing is Kap..
Just the way he doesn't always show up for less meaningful games.. You can't do that. We don't need that, all guys gotta play for something every game. I think he'll make it tho.. Hopefully as a 3rd liner. |

Yup...
Gotta think Yzerman (frank)ed up with him a bit - Arctic_AARDVARK
You think there's any fixing that?
If Stamkos leaves, you have to figure Yzerman's going to try his best to keep him around. Maybe they can have short memories and move on, but one thing is for sure, his trade value has definitely risen significantly. Not that I ever doubted his skill, but it helps seeing him put it all together on the ice especially in the playoffs. |

Only one player has a NMC and he won't probably play another game in the NHL. |
