He'll get his 9 games at the beginning of the season and the management will go from there... If he plays good, they can just either waiver someone(an old useless vet) or make a little trade to free up a spot.

If he doesn't impress, they won't need to do anything... unfortunately, OHL will be a waste for him, but they wouldn't have a choice. And Babcock did same everything is "all on him" during training camp and such.

who do you see as the top 6 wingers?

jvr, and likely nylander being the only two defacto top 6 wingers... i could see them keeping him to play a top 6 winger role.

for him it will be about off ice conditioning and strength over the summer... big difference from pro men and junior teenagers

I see playoffs as unlikely next year, so having a couple extra guys on the roster to sell at the TDL makes sense to me. i'm for a couple more one year rentals.

Longer-term, waiting for all your prospects to develop at the same time will get you nowhere … see Edmonton.

At some point you need to add players as LA, Chicago, NYI, Florida did … and as Edmonton is now trying to do.

We have depth and not enough nhl positions for everyone. We are getting to be in a good place to make a quantity for quality trade or 2.

Waivers may force the situation this year in any event.
