Greening is a solid 4th liner but has a bit of a price tag. He was a very serviceable player when he came over. I expect him to make the team. if not, it is $900,000 off the cap down to the Marlies.

Greening and Hyman are the sandpaper players that Babcock likes that is why I expect both to make it next season.

He should go to Buffalo. With Vesey and Stammer already joining, they are poised to be a powerhouse next season.

Greening and Hyman are the sandpaper players that Babcock likes that is why I expect both to make it next season.

Here's my worry with Hyman:

We all loved him for his hustle and bustle on the ice (myself included).

I think we are forgetting that a lot of that occurred in meaningless games where the opposition was already leading by 12 goals.

In short, I loved that he continued to play hard, regardless of the futility of it all (something a lot of Leafs the past 10 years have not been able to do).

But maybe - just maybe - we Leafs fans have an unrealistic view of just how NHL-ready this guy is.

There's a whole helluva lot of Leafs who have looked great while sipping their first cup of coffee, and haven't been able to actually stick.

I'm really hoping for the kid. But as I always do with Leafs nation, I worry about unrealistic expectations, followed by the pendulum swinging very hard the other way and cutting off the guy's nutz.

He's 30 years old, was dumped by the Senators, and has a career of bouncing between the NHL and the AHL.

Every minute he plays for the Leafs is a minute wasted.

I think we play the vets again this year and only bring up Nylander and maybe a couple others sporadically....

maybe they can ship him to calgary for a 4th.

I think there's no point in plotting out what the Leafs are going to do next year until we see what happens in July.

If they can get Stamkos and a good defenceman, it totally changes our thinking.

Unfortunately, we are just going to have to wait and see.

I think he plays and may be this year's trade deadline sacrifice. I do not think we will need the 900K and you can't ice 10 rookies.
