He's an NHL player. He's just aggressively mediocre.
- AdamFrench

I can't wait for the posts that inform me that you need guys like that to win Stanley Cups, not one-dimensional scorers like Kessel.

Holland is 25 years old, and still hasn't shown himself to be an NHL player.

My fearless prediction: the Leafs simply don't offer him an NHL contract this summer (he is an RFA).

I think they would prefer to free up some contract space.

maybe they can ship him to calgary for a 4th.

but yeah, i can't see him around much longer.

he was in babs doghouse for a while but managed to get out of it...

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Holland, he's not terrible, but not great..as frenchy said very mediocre..

Holland may get a 1 year deal. I doubt he's in any long term plans but why not? I know they need roster spots for the kids, but sometimes you want to spot the kids in and not Oiler the thing up.

The only Marlie I feel is guaranteed a spot on the Leafs next year is Connor Brown.

Sure, there's a fair to decent shot Nylander, Soshnikov and Hyman make it as well.

But I think Brown is a lock

Don't we already have enough garbage on one-year contracts?

Laich
Michalek
Greening
Lupul (2 more years)

That's four positions of dead weight on forward.

So why do we need Holland?

I might be in the minority, but I dont care how many rookies are on the Leafs

Because Lupul & Michalek won't make it to game 12 in one piece. The others may become tradeable and this way they still can insulate the kids if things aren't going well down the stretch.

Why can't Holland be offered a 2 way deal?

No, Nylander is a lock, Brown is as close as a lock as possible. I would venture to guess Hyman will be on the team, Babcock loves the guy.

If Holland is not dealt, he is the 13th forward. There will be two buyouts only if Cowen is dealt for cap relief to another team, if not he is one of the buyouts.

This is what the tarot cards showed.

2 way deal doesn't necessarily mean that he can be sent back and forth between the NHL and AHL without going through waivers..doesn't it have to do with games played in the NHL or something like that?

He's played 195 NHL games - he would have to clear waivers.

It's a complicated formula, based on your age, when you signed your first contract and how many games played.

This sorta explains it:

It's more to do with pay... 2-way means that they get one salary if they play in the NHL, and another (lower) if they play in the AHL.

I don't see why Holland would accept that... if not with TO, he'll find a permanent NHL job somewhere...

He should go to Buffalo. With Vesey and Stammer already joining, they are poised to be a powerhouse next season.
