And how many games did he come back early from injury and just not even look close to what he was for a solid 5-10 games. Broken hand, concussion, broken foot, 2? Separated shoulders.
I'm not trying to knock McD guy is a great defenseman, but you have to give to get and I'm willing to give when we can get a substantial return for him.

Who else is getting u the return to replenish some depth? Staal with his NMC? Klein? No no must be Girardi. Ur getting a 20 year old with ppg potential plus other pieces that can help.

I'm positive people that regularly post on this site said it (this is the only hockey site I go on). The reason I remember it is bc of how ridiculous I thought it was.

McD is for sure our most valuable skater, but are we playing in May/June next season without him? If not, then why not blow it... If we're aiming for the playoffs next season, McD is a keeper!

I think we're a good enough team to be playing in May/June without him. I'm not proposing losing him and not replacing him that's y I suggest brassard for Shattenkirk. Obv more complicated than just that but it's a start. I think Draisitl is a player we could watch for the next 10-15 years and be a legitimate 1C for those years. You don't start the Draisitl conversation without McD. I'd be willing to base a trade off of Skeji for him and signing a ufa to fill the hole but for once I want a deal that we aren't giving up 3-4 pieces for 1 player. Yandle. Staal. MSL. Nash. Not saying some of these haven't worked out but you can't keep giving up picks/prospects/young players and not replace it.
