Yup. I would take that 4th and see what teams can lose a defenceman, or a defenceman that another team wont be able to afford in a few years.

The first team I'd call up is Arizona. Ask about OEL.

They could even trade it down to 7th or 8th, pick up a bottom pair defender and still draft Chychrun or Juolevi, but we know how this plays out, Tkatchuk the Oiler.

OEL, Shatty etc., although Shatty is only signed for 1 more year and what are the chances he stays. That would be a waste of a 4th.

4th, Eberle and Slepyshev. That might get it done.

You always hear take the best player at your position in the draft, but I have to believe when you have had that many high picks and everyone knows you need defence, you take a defenceman or try to trade your pick for one.

They also have three 3rd round picks this draft. Add i one of those as a sweetener.

No chance. Smelly is 100% right here. They'll draft one of Tkachuk or Dubois.

We'd be getting a young offensive stud, 4th line winger with grit but can play the game unlike Glass and take a chance on Yakupov. Shattenkirk replaces McDonagh.

If its McDonagh, a piece called Hall better be coming back the other way.

Tough to send McD anywhere. What command of a deal would Shatty command after his current deal ends (after next season)? McD's deal is very, very cap friendly for his caliber.

I think Draisitl will be just as good as Hall if not better. I think he's going to be a stud. He also plays center hall plays wing.

Agreed. I was about to say that, but Brassard >> Shatterkirk deal must go down first.

Then Nash to anywhere...

1st let me get this out of the way. I don't want McDonagh going anywhere.

2nd if in some alternative universe management decided to do it, it better be for an established 1st line player.

I think the team becomes much deeper with these trades. We need solid depth and right now we don't have that. Think of the lines with these trades.

I don't think anyone is going to knock you on that, but you're dealing for potential with Draisaitl. Hall is an established top line winger on a cap friendly long term contract. If you are going to deal your top pair defender on a very cap friendy deal you need a sure thing coming back.

I don't know about that. Don't get me wrong, Draisitl is definitely worth something, and looks to be a good player, but Hall is the player you would want now. McDonagh for Draisitl now would be a huge overpayment.

Get him before his value is through the roof.
