Barrie will require Skjei+

Backes will resign with the Blues

- rangerdanger94

Barrie would require Skjei, Miller and probably Gropp. Would love Barrie. Rangers can't afford it though.

I can't wait until the team makes it's next moves so we can stop rehashing the old ones already

I know. Watched a couple Finn games in the worlds. He's pure elite! btw - so is Puljujarvi.
- 21peter

Yeah but Puljurjarvi doesn't play that North-South game. Laine is gritty and gets himself into great scoring positions.

He wouldn't require THAT much. But Skjei and a 2nd sounds about right to me.

The issue with Barrie is he's available because of extremely high contract demands. He could be demanding close to $7M per year, if not more.

They gambled and lost, these things happen. This fan base is just hypersensitive to dealing away futures because they don't have that many to hang their hat on.

Buchnevich, Gropp, Kovacs, Skjei, Graves, Halverson, Shesterkin and perhaps Tambellini. Other than that, and maybe Nieves, the cupboard is relatively bare and out of the aforementioned players, only three or four have a shot at being legitimate contributors.

- MidnightMarauder

I understand that, and haven't had an issue with it except this year. Maybe it was my 1 time to be right, but I hated that Staal trade from day 1 and got a bunch of crap for it.

You mentioned waiting a few season for a prospect to develop; therefore saying Hags was expendable for his asking price. If you want a Cup with this team, then the Rangers do not have a few years to wait. By that time, it will be a rebuilding stage.

You forget what was being said? In my opinion, the Hags trade was the worst because of the win now plan.

- mames11

Win now mode doesn't mean they can keep every key player that has helped them establish contender status these last few seasons.

Under this format, teams that are relatively successful for a few seasons are forced to make tough decisions on good players.

In a perfect world, of course the Rangers keep Hagelin but decisions are forced to be made and they couldn't justify, in their minds, keeping a good but not great winger for that price tag.

I think this team is gonna be busy

it reminds me of 2009 right about now

I most interested to see if Miller, Kreider & Hayes are coming back, and if not, which one is gone.

I think a Hayes/Klein combo can get that deal done.

Tyson Barrie put 49 points last year. Better than Yandle, Hedman, Hamilton, Keith, Leddy, Pietrangelo. etc. precedent for a trade of Barrie was set with the Yandle and Hamilton deals.

Same, don't think getting their doors blown off is sitting well with the hierarchy.

Rangers can't be in the running to acquire a player that will put the final nail in their prospect coffin. They have to tread lightly and make shrewd moves this summer.

I said the Rangers can't afford it at the very top of the page. But what the Avs would want for Barrie is what other teams got for the their quality d-men.

Possible fire sale on RFA's that want too much $$$ if Nash and Staal (or Girardi) aren't moved.

Agreed. Puljujarvi is a world class skater though and will be great for CBJ.

I think I have seen people say this about every single draft

there are always players who don't meet expectations, always great players who were picked later in the draft, happens every time

True. It's a cliched statement for sure. However, hypothetically speaking; if the Rangers got back into the top 10 or 12 I'd be thrilled.

A lot of people forget that when Hank went down, Talbot was Swiss cheese the first 3 or 4 games. He let in between 4 and 6 goals basically every game...we just happened to win each one by scoring 5-7.

Then we tightened up defensively and Talbot also increased his play and we went on a tear.

- rangerdanger94

I mention it everytime I read a "we shoulda kept Talbot" post, we have some (frank)ing retarded fans, Talbot should be much better with Edmonton umteenth lottery pick

I think he was actually tired of going to Brooklyn, he was very outspoken about how irritated he was by it
