5.8 cap hit for a 4th liner for the next 4 years. That is all - mdw7413
yep, and i can't believe the Rangers offered him that 6 years @ 6 million contract before they traded him...could you imagine us right now? |

So, which deal/ trade was the worse; Cally, Dan Boyle, Yandle, Cam, Hags, EStaal? - 21peter
Boyle was a FA signing...so remove that one.
Cally hurts, but he is overpaid now.
Yandle lost us Duke and he sucked on D...his played position. Y helped in some areas, but then hurt in others.
Talbot...he was a backup, after all and was never replacing Hank. Hoped for more, but return was ok.
Hags...lost and got nothing. Is he overpaid? If on the Rangers, probably; though speed cannot be taught...and he has tons of it. Playoff performer, too.
E Staal...just pretending it never happened because it played out that way.
My vote is the Hags deal. |

Tie for first.
Yeah Call was added in along with 2 first picks for MSL, but without MSL they don't go the SCF.
Yandle helped them last year and this year. But failed to live up to Tanner's hype
Hagelin is a byproduct of depth and stupid luck. Look what he did in Anaheim. With the Ducks Hags got a few games with Getzlaf and Perry and stunk.
Cam Tablot byproduct of a superior team. - tomburton99
Dan Boyle and Eric Staal moves were the worst.
Both did nothing for the team.

I said it at the time. Just didn't see it this year with this team. Thought the Staal trade was just throwing away a prospect and 2 2nds for absolutely nothing.
I think sometimes perception goes into these trades too. If the Rangers didn't try for Staal and another eastern conference team got him, Rangers fans would have been female doging and moaning up a storm. |

No, I ment both Dan Boyle and Eric Staal stunk. I just had to endure Dan Boyle for way longer. Thank goodness that's over. |

You can't grade the Hags deal til you see what becomes of Jensen and Ryan Gropp |

You won't be saying that in another few years when Gropp is here and Hagelin is geting four million dollars a year to score 15 goals.

Remember, Gorton wanted them to give it the old college try this season...he though the players deserved one more run |

The Rangers are damned if they do and damned if they don't, always been the case.
Honestly, I like that they tried to fortify their team at the deadline and try for one last run. Unfortunately though, Pittsburgh just kept building momentum and the Rangers never solved their horrible inconsistency. |

Boyle did score some goals...and is a D-man. Though he sucked in his own zone.
He also gave us a laugh by yelling at our good ol' Uncle Larry |

All this hindsight and lamenting about players x, y & z is why I want a full blown rebuild. Embrace the tank. Maybe get lucky like the Hawks, Penguins, Bolts; go from there. |

Boyle symbolizes Stralman's replacement to many; it's not necessarily that black and white but in essence that's the image. |

Ok...but listen to your logic.
If the Rangers window for winning is closing, then why would I want to wait a few years when we had a proven player who is probably the fasted skater in the league and can score. 15 goals @ $4M someone said...we have that at $7.5M in Nash. |

I did it 3 years with the Sixers and now I am reborn. Tanking isn't that bad |

imo he wasn't worth much more at the time, knowing what he demanded in $$

Thats was just dumb. "Yeah, don't see the team getting to far in the playoffs but going to throw some picks and a prospect in the garbage because these players deserve it." - mdw7413
Second round picks can be recouped in trades and Saarela was the team's ninth rated prospect. Remember the Rangers are apparently 30th out of 30 in prospect quality. |
