Babcock pretty much said they're taking Matthews in his interview with Dreger. You take the player that projects to be the best NHLer, not the player who had a few good tournaments playing on better teams.

Laine will be good, he'll probably outscore Matthews every so often. Matthews should be the better NHLer.

Leafs should use Pittsburg pick and take Hart and leave him to develop properly and you have your future goalie as what we have now is not taking you forward. Trading for a number one right now will be very difficult and may cost you more than you want or need to pay. Hart looks to be as good or better than Murray so he could be ready in 2 years time.

I'm just not a fan of drafting goalies in the first round, even if it is toward the end of the round. But with all the picks the Leafs have, you could afford to take the on the risk.

The fact that he spoke to both prospects at the worlds tells me its not set in stone yet. He even says why would you take an exam 3 weeks early?
