I might tend to agree with that, but they already have almost an entire 2nd draft, with the picks that they've already acquired. You can only send so many to your AHL club, going forward. There will be a time when you'll max out your full 50 pro contracts and have to let players go. Since the Leafs have extra picks, in all of the next 3 drafts, plus a wealth of talented, but smaller wingers on the Marlies, maybe it's time to start enhancing their second pick, in the first round. - PrinceLH
you get better value trading down, which is why i'd be surprised to see them trade up.
we'll all see how it shakes out draft day. |

Leafs will most likely use the Pittsburg pick to either move np back into the second round like they did last year, or use it to shed some bad salary like lupul or robidas, and collect additional mid round picks in the process. - Kinggilmour
if the leafs don't sign stamkos, i can't see a need to move out robidas or lupul. |

the second is #31.. so 27-30,31 and 61 for #8 isn't too crazy. - orienbrady22
if we're not moving down, i rather see one or 2 of those pieces included in a package for an nhl player. |

You make some good points.
We already got Grabner for 5 players to free up contract space. |

The leafs will sign a few more 1 year Ufa contracts to deal at the deadline once again. Roman Polak will be #1 on the list of signings come july1st. |

Not just better value but your odds are increased exponentially of hitting an NHL player. You just end up playing the odds....
Then sometimes you get lucky with a Gibson and Rakell for a Tyler Biggs type of draft pick deal and end up with two solid NHL players |

I can’t see how lupul and/or robidas will interfere with that.
i do expect a few 1 year deals again. |

I think only a few. I could see Polak and maybe another forward like Winnik (but not winnik since he's signed for another year in Washington) |

Let say the Leafs have the 8th pick.
Would you trade it to get the 27th, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick? Would you actually make that deal?
Yeah... exactly what I thought. - fidopro

I think the one yr deal thing is done in TO...Tanking days are over..Leafs have youth ready for the NHL and roster spots have to be available for them to take and that cant happen if ya fill out with 1yr contracts to sell.... |

It kind of is...
I could see something like Pitts first and say Percy for the 15th pick... THEN take the 15th pick and those other picks and move up to the 8th. |

That's why I think it's one or two. Just as insurance. Yes we need roster spots and yes some of the youth is ready but you don't Edmonton this thing and shove all the youth into the line up and expect huge gains.
I also expect a very PTO's come training camp. (doesn't mean anything but expect a few) |
