It's true though. You're not a good leader unless you win a cup apparently.
It's a team sport, an individual can't leadership his way to a cup. It's so dumb. Toews is apparently a leadership god but put him on the Leafs and he'd just be a chump. - daeth
And you can't assess someone's leadership without experiencing it first-hand, so therein lies the catch 22 for internet commenters who make these claims.
It's also like when people say an NHL player is terrible - the worst NHL player on his worst day would dangle you and your entire men's league, so...all relative I guess. |

Apparently Messier is the single greatest leader of all time.
First four cups Gretzky was captain.
5th cup he was still on a stacked team of HHOFs.
Absolutely flamed out in Vancouver - the fans have never forgiven them.
But then in New York he guaranteed a win - so he's the best leader of all time.
I love the logic. - Atomic Wedgie
Reporter: Hey Messier, do you think your team has a shot at winning the series?
Messier: Yes.
Holy poop guys, he guaranteed a win and actually won! What a captain! |

Look at Ovechkin this year. He outplayed Crosby by a large margin in that series but Crosby outleadershipped him and won the series somehow. What a leader! What a captain! - daeth
The stats are undeniable.
In the series:
Crosby: 48.2 Churchill leadership points/60 minutes
Ovechkin: 34.8 Churchill leadership points/60 minutes
Stats don't lie. |

I watched Thornton play with the Soo Greyhounds along with Rico Fata and Tim Jackman...Thornton controlled the play and the setups even back then - jimi james
I'm sure he did, which is why he went #1 overall I assume. |

Listened to Mcguire this morning, his response to why the Pens lost game 1 .. They lost thier identity
I guess that type of analysis appeals to many.. but I just see it as basically answering the questions with.. I dont know

Damn those are some low Churchill numbers for Ovechkin. That almost drops him to a Thatcher rating. Quite damning evidence. |

I thought the Stalin stats show how successful your defence is at digging in and preventing the other team to advance over the ice to invade your crease? |
