I can't say I'm a big fan of Lucic - I think he probably has a couple of decent years before a significant decline but he will want much better term and money than you indicate, so I would have to pass. That said, I wouldn't mind taking a look at Erikson, primarily to play with the Sedins (based on their past chemistry Internationally).

I"m also a big fan of Horvat (despite the pedigree of Drouin) who is going to take over the team at some point with his leadership skills and added maturity/experience when the time comes.

Higgins and Burrows will be a tough one to navigate, especially Burrows, who was and remains a fan favourite and still has some serviceability (although at some point I understand the need to move on - perhaps a buy-out at the end of next season?).

And I note you haven't included McCann in the line-up? Oversight or are you penciling him in for the AHL? or part of a Stamkos package? ( I know we are talking top of the line player but the term and money are worrisome - fortunately he's still quite young so the risk is probably worth it in the end, though).

I think keeping both Edler and Hamhuis is the way to go - we are simply too thin on defense to allow the luxury of moving either one of these players. Let's hope that Edler's over his injury woes and finally has a healthy season (yes, anyone have any magic beans? perhaps mushrooms then? )

Thus, overall, some interesting possibilities but I'd have to say, for the most part, I wouldn't make any of these moves

I'm with you on Lucic... he's got the raw tools, but his game is gonna start taking a bigger toll on him in the future than now, and he's showed multiple times to not have the calm head to prevail in testing times...


As for Stammer, I agree... Vancouver is an awesome city to be in, but if he's leaving a contender in Tampa it's for either another top contender, or his hometown team (if not for the latter TO wouldn't have a sniff of him - as it stands there's about a 0.1% chance IMO).

Still gotta be more. He's shown himself capable of first line minutes, and he's a very in demand righty. The closest comparison I can think of is Rafalski (almost identical size, game) and he's already got close in points (53 vs 59) to Rafalski's best year despite being 2 years younger than when Rafalski made his debut.

Sadly more middle prospects/picks isn't gonna cut it; it would take your first this year plus plus, without the 10th coming back. This is why as much as I'd love him, I don't think TO would have a shot: There's no way they'll move the 1OA, and there's almost nothing that they could/would package with the Pitts 1st that would make Colorado flinch...

Looks to me like Bautista deserved that shot - not so much for the bat toss but he came in cleats up on that slide like he was trying to injure Odour.

Edit - OK maybe not cleats up but he definitely slid late and when through the base.
