Dumb challenge. Everyone and their dead great great grandmothers knew that wasn't going to be reversed AGAIN after already being changed on the ice. |

Their 4th line is still better than any of our bottom 2 lines. We need help - Just5
Their 4th? With rotating Ott and Reaves and Brodziak and Upshall? Our 3rd is absolutely better than that. Blues might be deep, but they have the worst 4th line in the playoffs right now probably.
I'd rather Read and Cousins be on OUR 4th but that is another story.... |

Our 4th line is dynamite. Lot of criticism sent their way, and almost all of it unwarranted. |

I don't know if I'd say Cousins is better than Ott. Or if Read is better than Upshall.
These are pretty much toss ups. Wish we could speed up our forward prospects but its not happening |

I don't know man. Maybe I'm in the minority. But they really did some serious yeoman's work, especially in the playoffs. They were pretty reliable to spend a good shift down in the offensive zone. At times they were their best line.
Maybe that's a dig on the rest of the team. |

Brodziak + Reaves + Upshall + Ott: 31 points in 231 combined games this year
Read: 26 points in 79 games
Matt Read is not what he used to be, but all the hate he gets is beyond me. |

I'd like to see the same equation done with regards to power play time |

My suggestion for rebuilding the 3rd and 4th lines is to use some of the parts this year and fill in the rest with new. I would keep Read and Laughton. Move Raffl down.
I like White a little more then most. He is going to be cheap and is effective on the 2nd PP unit and didn't look out of place on the PK when given a chance. The last two spots, I want one of them filled by a guy who is an above average faceoff player. I don't want G taking as many face-offs this year.

Matt Read had 7 PP points this season. Seems like a case of other teams players are good, Flyers players aren't

Yes, and this seems like a case of the Flyers' players needing to play better than other playoff teams' players |

It is less in Read's favor w/ 7 PP points to 0, but it's still a 4 player to 1 comparison. Since we are talking ES play, should we perhaps mention that Read had the third best possession numbers on the team this year behind Couturier and Raffl? None of those players sniffed that (Upshall actually was OK). He's still a respectable all around player, much as he is a whipping boy. His scoring is disappointing, but that doesn't make him a poor player. He is still useful. On that Laughton-Cousins-Read line that saw late season success, he was very much the glue player who did all the little things for them. |
