Wait, the Leafs are going to trade Lupul and the 1st round pick they got from Pittsburgh and only get a 2nd or 3rd in return? DAFUQ
- ErectileReptile

They do have a recent history of trading draft picks with bad contracts just to get rid of them.

See Clarkson and Phaneuf.

Oh wait.

Lupul will be on the IR for half the season anyway. Packaging up a 1st round pick with him and only getting a 2nd or 3rd back is not a good deal.

I've already proven my sources to be legit...posting weeks and days before they happen...not minutes like some other guys. Lets see when the Bedard signing gets announced.
- Kinggilmour

I won't pretend to discount your credibility cuz its the cool thing to do and because I don't think someone here would just claim to work for an NHL team for no reason......but the Winnik signing is the only thing I recall you 'breaking'. Maybe if you appeared more often and with more relevant snd interesting scoops than a goalie coach signing in Arizona.......people might take you more seriously. Just saying....

Do what ever they can to get rid of Bozak, Lupul and Bernier and this team is in full reset.

As you all know, I know jackpoop about junior, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be hard to googlemafy up a kid who was drafted by Dubas and is returning to North America to be a mid-round pick.

Leafs are shopping Lupul with the Pens 1st round pick right now for a late 2nd early 3rd round pick. I know Flames have been interested and talking witht he leafs for a long while.

Jimmy Howard may be moving to the Flames or Yotes this off season as well. Red wings are looking for takers to hit the cap floor and take on Pavels contract ( he is officially not coming back)

Bernier is probably playing out his year's contract; dont be suprised to see MAF joining the leafs this off season.

Leafs will most likely draft London Knights Goalie in the 2nd/3rd round

- Kinggilmour

Maybe he'll have a bounce back year.
I don't know, If he doesn't he won't have a job next year.
Or at least a very good paying one.
No way they can have almost 11 mill in goalies though.

Lupul and Bozak both only have 2 years left. Leafs won't be contenders in that time anyway. The Leafs will have zero interest in adding assets to a deal just to dump them. Either they are moved in a normal hockey trade or they stay until their contracts run out.

from the blog

It is probable that GM Lou Lamoriello will attempt to add a netminder via trade or free agency, but with 12 picks in the upcoming draft, it is also likely that Mark Hunter will select a young netminder to develop.

Sportsology's Russ Cohen indicates that London Knights goalie Tyler Parsons, who has won 13 straight OHL playoff games in route to the Memorial Cup, is on Toronto's radar and could be a target with one of their picks in the second round.

No it's not. Mcdavid is a step up from all three those guys.

Matthews is a step up from Laine. McDavid is a step up from Eichel/Matthews.

common sense would also tell you not to sign a guy like Robidas, Clarkson etc....but it just dooesnt work that way.

Leafs are 1 contract away from the league Max; can't sign anyone if you dont move anyone out. Hunter and Dubas are very confident in the draft clas coming out of the 2nd round....Bozak wont get moved unless "assets" are coming back. Lupul will cost the leafs a draft pick or prospect like Kapanen to move.

- Kinggilmour

Common sense would tell you that Clarkson was unmovable as was Phaneuf.

Given his location, if anything, he'd be Joe Raaymakers' dad. Only Soo player up for draft from that region of the province, and also close to Detroit.

it's actaully a very good deal for the leafs. Freeing themselves of his contract (dollars and actual contract) actaully give them flexability at the Draft. 12 picks can easily turn into 14 or 15....Hunter and Dubas know this draft class very well and want to take full advantage this and next year. The year after these next 2 drafts they will be losing 3rd round picks to detroit and NJ....so capitalizing on these picks at such low picks is crucial.

No one drafted by dubas rated in the 3-4 round range as far as I can see.

Why would he be in Europe talking to teams?
