And people deny there's a huge bias against the Leafs here. It's becoming quite comical really.

Also, keep in mind that Matthews isn't Leafs property yet. We have the first pick, so we should be the least biased voters of everyone.

I think trouba plus the 22nd puck for the 4th. If you gotravel add a little from edmonton perspective sure but doubt they add nurse even though I'm not sold on nurse but it seems a little counter productive to trade nurse.

in my opinion, not a chance I do that. All reports indicate there is a drop off after the top 3 in this years draft. Why would i give up Trouba to move up to 4 and throw in 22? not happening

Finland is a much much better team the the U.S.A. u have to look at the entire situation that both players are in. Matthews isn't playing with anything spectacular, where as Laine is playing with Barkov and J.Jokinen.
I don't really care about points. It's another intangibles that we, need to look at.
Matthews is the better player now, and will be, later as well.

If Leafs had the 2nd pick this year, Not one person would be debating if Matthews was the clear cut number one....

Leafs will be drafting the definite best player in the draft....

I actually like what the Leafs are doing, but the comments about how you guys have the best management Team in the NHL is a bit hard to listen to.

the Jets have had one of the worst power plays for years now and lose alot of close games. There system is already very deep!! A chance to start the year with Hellibuck in net and Laine on the power play is probably too exciting to give up. The only trade that would interest me is with Columbus if they loved Laine and wanted to flip picks.

and the Leafs ALWAYS pick the wrong guy anyway... so why the level of interest out of Vancouver... who obviously have the best prospect pool, current talent and GM and coach of any team in Canada...

If the Leafs had the number 2 I would love to watch TSN spin the Laine Hype train, I say it would be 100 times worse than it is now.

of course.. .they can't hold a candle to Vancouver or Edmonton - that's a given.

I can't think of a single reason why anyone would legitimately factually say that Vancouver, or Edmonton's or for that matter Montreal's management team's are better... but hey... when have facts or common knowledge EVER been used in a hockeybuzz debate?

actually this is true... but what bugs me the most.. is that the refs defend the other fan base trolls... when we reverse troll.

I never - or at least VERY rarely venture into other threads... but in here it seems like open season on the Leaf fan base... and has done for years.

If Columbus (just as an example) had won the lottery... there wouldn't be any question about who the superior player is based on the observation that the Leafs would have to take the consensus 2nd.

even then - they'd be debating if the Leafs should take Laine or Puljavri

I'm really extremely happy that the Jets get the 2nd pick.. and that the OBVIOUSLY best young talent is not going to somewhere like Vancouver or Montreal or heaven forbid Buffalo.

I know that I'm saying 1st for OEL and the 7th (where the Leafs most likely grab another dman) should the Leafs if it was an option take OEL and another high end d prospect over drafting Matthews. Just curious as to how people value the two positions.

Edit: Arizona has already said they won't be trading OEL but if the Leafs could get him and Dubois it'd be interesting

I never said the Oilers ( or any other Canadian team) had a better management team either.

So what makes Torontos management team the best? The best part I can see is Lou Lam , because he proved it over and over.

Way too much emphasis is being placed on Matthews' bona fides coming into the tournament. Fact is he has been outscored and outplayed by the Finish Flash. Toronto Sports Network has panicked. They have way too much invested in Matthews and they are trying to answer questions nobody else appears to be asking.

Not unlike the Taylor/Tyler debate of a few years ago. The consensus was that Taylor was the better player.....but, you all know the story.

I agree in most years, except for the 2012 draft in my eyes was a little weaker than normal compared to other years, Yakupov, Murray, Galchenyuk aren't generational players, but good players! Galchenyuk is just starting to pick it up this year and Murray is a defense that had injuries set him back and in general defense always take longer to develop (unless if you're ekblad), but Yakupov has been a disappointment in my eyes.

Nail aka healthy scrathapov ain't poop. The best player of that draft is Morgan Rielly. Burke was talking poop when he said he would've taken him with the first overall pick - but it would have been the right choice.
