I just re watched it
"we need to get better up front...
goal scoring/playmaking would be our #1 need"
goal scoring slash playmaking
just a little slash in there - Marc D
Wouldn't be Hexy without a little slash, right?

Are collisions how he got all of his concussions? |

Was thinking what if Hextall moves back a few picks and acquires another 2nd and then moves three 2nds to get another 1st rounder? We end up picking something like 21st and 22nd. |

No. I know his last one was a foul ball off the mask. His melon is mush though. He probably has concussion symptoms just from watching that play from the dugout |

Honestly that area of the draft doesn't impress me much. I'd rather just package both 2nds to pick high in the 2nd round if they have a guy targeted. The late first just feels bleh to me. I'm ok with a trade back, but not a 3-1 trade up back into the first. Just not good value. After the top 20 or so, I'm not sure much separates that and first half or so of the 2nd. |

Nice. Even though it's thought to be an average draft it sure looks forward heavy in the first couple rounds which is great news for the flyers. |

What is his ceiling though? Do you see a high floor, middle ceiling guy...maybe a 20/25-20 all around guy?
Also, I know you love McAvoy. Different report I read sound all over the place on him, though he is good offensively. The negative ones seem to harp on defense and even hockey sense...I just don't know where to place him with the guys I've seen. Why are you so enamored? - Mononoke
Kunin's ceiling is hard to judge as he played on a rather poor and not very deep team at Wisconsin. There would be long stretches of play where he created very little offensively. He did much better on the PP, in terms of finding teammates and getting shots off. He's going to be more of a goal scorer/ PKer I think. Probably a 2nd/3rd liner at LW/C and will get some good special teams exposure. He is a pretty same pick, and I'm not wild about him at 18.
McAvoy has all the tools to be a good defensive player, but sometimes he tries to do too much. He chases hits on occasion, but generally his gaps are good and his stick work in the corners is quite impressive. He has the ability to skate the puck out of his end but forces it sometimes. His decisions as to when to get rid of the puck on the rush were sometimes quizzical. All in all McAvoy has the great tools both offensively and defensively, no glaring holes in his game, and his mental issues seem fixable. |

Ty. That's the vibe I got off of Kunin...he seems very much a safe pick, not a particularly high ceiling. I'd like to see the Flyers play a little more boldly with their top picks looking for high end players.
McAvoy intrigues me, but I have a feeling he is gone before our pick anyway. Boston or Detroit makes too much sense with him and Fabbro.

Nice find, and that is a really weird list.
I like where guys like Mete and Dube are on his rankings, but I was surprised that Gregor was so low. Gregor plays that "honest game", but with great vision and a nose for the net. Tage Thompson at 93 is a bit of a joke. His biggest issue is consistency, but when he is on he looks like a top 10 talent. Pronman might not have seen him on his best of days. |
