We have a roster we can start building on. So what the roster could look like in September/October is fun to think about. As much as I want to upgrade at LW, I would like to upgrade thr bottom 6 first.

should be (hopefully) an interesting offseason

hexy has said what he views as the biggest need, number one is playmakers he said and maybe more size

Funny part was watching the interview he basically just says "everything." He didn't even mention size until a reporter said , "....what about size?" And Hexy responded that it plays a part like anything else, with the equivalent of a verbal nod-shrug.

My takeaway was he said we need "better" players.

watching the playoffs makes me feel they are still a long ways away from some of the top teams

I just re watched it

"we need to get better up front...
goal scoring/playmaking would be our #1 need"

goal scoring slash playmaking

just a little slash in there

A long ways off and a short ways off with the right players. I think this team can accelerate rapidly with the right players. Lightning had two mediocre .500 years with Boucher at the end, then had an injury plagued season picking 3rd overall, then got swept first round....then this. No reason the Flyers can't go into overdrive in another season or two. But they need the right guys. They're almost there...another dynamo forward would do the trick.

"Goal scoring...playmaking would be our #1 need"....

He really covered it all with that one. Which is it....both? If so, I agree.

I think the flyers are on schedule . Beginning of the year, everyone hoped coots and schenn could be part of the core. Check. Ghost looks to have secured a top 4 spot on the blue line. Check. Gudas looks like a reliable 3rd pairing d man who can kill penalties and do more then just chip the puck up the boards. Check. G, voracek and simmonds were givens.

Totally agree more needs to be done. My faith in hexy is very high right now. Contract extensions are very much in line with performance. Certain fans will argue the voracek contract. He has prospects in the pipeline who can have top 9 or top 6 roles roles on cheap contracts. Hexy could slip up and mess things up, but at least he is on the right path.

Hmmm, I believe there will be solid/good options available at #18

Max Jones
German Rubtsov (maybe)
Kieffer Bellows (maybe)
Luke Kunin
Taylor Raddysh (probably too high, not a true goal scorer)

some possible defenseman

Dante Fabbro
Charlie McAvoy

I do think #7 may have been too high for Crouse but felt he was a forward they could use.

But I am very happy they landed Provorov

I think Crouse is a good player...I don't think he has the highest ceiling, and I don't think he's a particularly dynamic player, but I liked him. Not at #7 though...not even at #15....I think part of it was the absurd rankings of him at #3-5 from pro scouting services that rankled some people. Some of us (like me) are a bit touchy about over reliance on drafting "size." I think he will be a good player though. It's a whole lot more than I can say about some of the "size" picks floating around where we are drafting. *cough* Gauthier *cough*

He is maybe my least liked first round player. I am not a fan. A lot of mocks are projecting him to us too...I don't see it even if we go that route. Doesn't strike me as a Hextall pick. Hell there's a good chance a team takes him before us anyways. I hope so.
