Skating in this system is more important than size and physicality.

And let's face it... A six foot 190-200lb guy can still be physical very effectively, you don't need to be 6'-4" / 230lbs to do that.

Rather get the puck out instead of playing in your own zone cause you can't exit the zone. Get guys that can do that, not more guys that stay in their own zone.

being born in 1990, i only really remember the sundin era. gilmour and wendel would be in mine, but just didn't see enough to really know them.

Barrie would be an upgrade on Gardiner - the question is what would be the cost? It still does not address the requirement of size at the back end. The leafs have a team that does not have size either on defense or up front. Need to offer a safe environment
for the top Leaf players from teams that take liberties - like Flyers did with McDavid and Gianta did with Reimer and like the Bruins have been doing for years.
