Barrie > Vatanen, Trouba, Demers imo.

I wonder what the Avs would want tho. Probably Nuge.

Team/Avi wager?

If I'm right, you switch your team/avi to Flames until the draft and if you're right I do the same.

If both of us are wrong it's a wash and nobody has to do anything...

I'd say for sure better than vatanen and Demers

And for sure Barrie is better offensively than JT. But I like troubas all around potential more.
Admittedly, he took a step back this year, but last summer I had him pegged as a imminent superstar

I am very, very sorry for your impending loss. Would you feel better if I were to buy you a signed Barrie Oiler's jersey?

Absolutely

Poo can play effectively on any line. In A checking role and/or with nuge/Connor

Start him on the 3rd if we're lucky enough to have a logjam at left wing and then he can move up when injuries happen

I actually think poo is a pretty key part of any success we might have

- HB77

Agreed. He's shown he's able to play in any role and that has a lot of value, especially on a competitive team. My one concern with him is injuries as both of his years with the Oilers have had a substantial injury.

I dont know, any trade for him will be a gut punch for me. Even an overpayment of 4th overall and the BBC and I would fill a bit underwhelmed since I am such of fan of Barrie

The question is why?

Obviously it's all guesswork, but you're smart enough to probably put a finger on sakics thinking ...

Money. He is part of Newsport (same group as ROR) and they might be miles apart in contract talks

I doubt it's as much Sakic as Roy. He seemed really unhappy with his "core" and I think Barrie might just happen to embody what he deems to be a problem. It's a guess, I but I think he's a bit more of a hockey traditionalist than most GMs in the game now-a-days so he may not value Barrie how he ought to. I'd start out offering the 4th and Reinhart, but I would NOT get outbid or leave this open to chance. We can't lose out on another Dman.

They offered him 4mx5years 2 years ago but he went bridge deal to bet on himself to get a better contract.

I think he wants 6m-7m long term if thats the case

I think any proposals of big name forward additions (Lucic/backes etc) is kind of pie in the sky

Just not really feasible

Prob spend money on defence mostly. and if we do move one of the big contracts, he'll probably be replaced with a cheaper middle 6 option that can somewhat replace that offence.

- HB77

I hope Chiarelli still does some work on the forward corps. The team needs some depth and a few more versatile players. I kinda hope he can grab a guy like Jurco from Detroit. The guy has struggled a fair deal, but he has great hands and seems to have a decent two-way game in my viewings. I wonder if they'd do Yakupov for Jurco and a pick (or maybe Sproul).

Would be worth it no? I'd prefer Barrie over Subban given the choice.

It'd be quite the coup to land him

Pp qb/puck mover/ rush starter off the list of needs

Still need that defensive minute Muncher, but not only do I think that might be abit easier to find, but one might be able to kind of scotch tape a mediocreish type in that role fairly effectively

If u get my meaning

Speaking of Subban money, Weber is looking less and less appealing. That performance last night was appalling and his contract is horrid. $8M cap hit until he is 40 when he is only 30 now and already on a noticeable decline.

Roy can be as unhappy as he wants, end of the day its Sakic. He has final say in the roster and if he feels that they cant afford Barrie then thats up to him.

Sakic is a very progressive GM to be honest, he has talked about shot metrics and his assistant GM McFarland is really progressive in that department as well.

Sakic is more new age, Roy is very old school. But it comes down to money for the Avs and if he wants more than 6m a year (Dougie Hamilton just signed 5.5m) can the Avs afford to keep him and still build a competitive roster in the future

Only problem is that Barrie has been sheltered by Johnson quite a bit whereas Subban has played all of the challenging minutes for the Habs. It skews their numbers a bit in Barries favor.
