Gary Bussey's other kid? - Fenrir
Apparently Gary was getting busy in Sweden about 25 years ago. |

yea, true - I just feel like he would waive it to possibly play in Carolina with his two brothers - rangers425
Wonder if Carolina is even going to take back Eric. They were pretty close to getting into the playoffs this year. Probably take him back if its a very cheap contract. |

Hey, if they resigned E Staal and said we plan to trade for Marc, he'd probably sign for fairly cheap to play with his two bros. |

Let me tell you a few things about Buff brother:
1st: He's VERY expensive.
2nd: He's getting old.
3rd: Buff is half Norwegian - that's a fact and the first positive... |

Granted M.Staal had a bad year this year but he would be an upgrade on that D down there - gotta figure he rebounds next year - as far as Eric is concerned i think that dude is done |

What would we get back in a trade though? Then we have the same problem on the left side, unless they re-sign Yandle.
I could deal with a McDonagh/Yandle /Skjei left side. Just think Staal is here to stay. |

Well to me the only reason you would trade M.Staal is to re-sign Yandle |

Yeah. I would take that trade off, even though I'm not very high on Yandle. If they could swing that I would be cool with it, still don't think it happens though. I just hate the thought of not trading Yandle for something at the deadline and him walking for nothing. |

Yea it was pretty stupid - I think they misread this years team because of the record - I much rather them re-sign yandle then them making another stupid move for a guy like Boyle down the road because they don't have a quarterback for the pp |

That would be my guess. If they could resign Yandle for a discount (doubt it) from what he'd get elsewhere, then I'd trade Staal for a 2nd rounder and a prospect.
I'm not a Yandle fan, but if the Rangers need to shed Staal's contract because of that NMC before expansion, then it would be the only way I'd want Yandle back. I do not want, in any case, three fairly fresh faces on D unless Ulfie is fired and they bring in someone else (Beukeboom) to teach a new system to the team.
I still think this team can win with a key pog to the puzzle. Where that is? I think it's on the bench wearing a suit. Crap D system. Crap power(less) play. Crap PK. That's my opinion on improving the team. I don't thin there's a need for such an overhaul after a 101 point season. Some guys are gone by default (Boyle, Moore, Stahlberg) and that will bring in some of the kids like Buch, Hrivic, .... |

That's making the massive assumption that Carolina even wants M Staal. or even wants E Staal back... I wouldn't be surprised if they want to move in a new direction |

It is a huge assumption but its the better option of trading Staal or buying out G - Buying out a player makes totally no sense in my opinion - why pay for him to play for someone else - especially in the CAP era - I'm sure the chances of Staal being traded are slim - but its the better move than buying someone out and still paying for him and getting nothing for him |

It is...Aren't there still two Staals in Carolina? Jordan and ... (???). Think the other is in the minors...or something like that. Pretty sure there were four in the NHL; three in Carolina. |

saving money is saving money..
even if you found a trade partner for staal you're still gunna have to retain salary so then you're still paying for him to play somewhere else |

True but at that point at least your getting some sort of assets back - buying someone out your getting nothing - its not just about saving money - I would keep staal and G for next year and let Yandle walk (his contract is going to be a disaster) but i don't see the rangers having two rookies and two struggling veterans making their top 6, maybe i'm wrong |

Is Anisimov a UFA? He'd be a great signing and help Buch adjust here. |
