He's been the globetrotters this year. Unfortunately after the Mem Cup. He'll only have just over 2 1/2 months to rest and train for camp. I don't think he sticks right away.

When I've seen him he hasn't been physically overpowered/dominated. He's shown lights out offensive skills and instincts and more than solid defense.

He's been the globetrotters this year. Unfortunately after the Mem Cup. He'll only have just over 2 1/2 months to rest and train for camp. I don't think he sticks right away.

Didn't Kessel have the option to veto a trade to a team that he did not want to go to? If so, the leafs were limited in terms of teams they could have discussed trade with for Kessel. Extremely difficult to win a trade when you can only trade him to 8 teams who are already up against the cap. Given the circumstances, this was a deal that benefitted both teams and helped the leafs obtain the lottery pick this year which was vital in their rebuild.
