Wait until Montreal - tries to unload Subban - (worst $9 million player on the planet), Petry ($5.5 million till 2020-21) Markov ($5.75 million) Emelin (two more years at $4.1 million) Lars Ellers (2 more years at $3.5 million) and Plekanek ( two more years at $6 million)

The Leafs bit the bullet this year and moved all the bad contracts they could. They got picks and were lucky (having only a 20% chance) to win the lottery. They had a team that tried to win every night. Don't begrudge them a first overall pick - they were overdue. Montreal has had five first overall picks since the draft was brought in (1963)

If you are interested in the players they took 1963 Gary Monahan, 1968 Michel Plasse, 1969 Rejean Houle, 1971 Guy Lafleur and 1980 Doug Wickenheiser.

There will be much more pain in Montreal's immediate future than Toronto's, sadly for Montreal fans - the elevator is on the way down - big time.

Apparently the Marlies domination of The AHL will lead to the Leafs domination of the NHL in 2 years.

Like the Bulldogs did to Montreal? (I'm not turning into symba where it always comes back to the Leafs, but just pointing out how well the AHL team aids the actual team that counts)

Exactly. It means absolute (frank). 2 different leagues. Jesus, 90% of the team won't even see the NHL. It's like saying Jr totals are a lock to carry over to the NHL.

I guess some of these guys need something to hold onto. Keep their hopes that the cupboards are full as (frank). Oh well. I'm not too worried about the Leafs. But I'm not putting a lot of water into the Marlies bucket.

I don't see many of the Marlies making the NHL. Nylander (maybe). That's about it

Well, if you find that insulting, then maybe you can feel comfort in knowing I did not say it was your sack you saw...
