That was the rumor on this site, which is what I was referring to. That it was there for the Hawk's taking, and they chose to pass.

Perhaps you have inside sources, I certainly don't, but pretty sure JJ was the one that reported his sources telling him that was the price from the Bolts to Stan.

Howie I never have NHL sources, ever. Junior sources sometimes but that's it. I do see a guy at Hawk games that plays Donkey Kong with Kaner and hangs with Seabs. I hear who's dinged and stuff like that, but nothing of use.

And yes it seems JJ reported TT was an ask of Stevie Y. Excuse my pickled mind as I can't remember yesterday let alone a few months ago.

I posted when Drouin was made available that IMO all 29 other teams would line up around the block and ask about Drouin, kid is that talented. Common sense told/tells me that a TT and/or a Gus type would never be enough for Drouin and that Stevie Y was in no hurry at all to move the kid, didn't need to, and that he wouldn't be stolen.

Seems that's how it played out. Other GM's were wary of Drouin to the point they weren't gonna give up equal talent for a 3rd pick that was having issues.

This was from Steve Rosenbloom's column in the Tribune today:

Artemi Panarin, the Blackhawks presumptive Calder Trophy winner as rookie of the year, sat down with a reporter at the World Championships in Russia recently and offered this thought at his team’s first-round playoff ouster:

"In the first two games St. Louis was strong. They ran around full of energy with their eyes wide opened. They gave no space constantly hit with the stick and shoved under the knee. All sorts of unpleasant things. When the opponent has the will and power, he is a meat grinder. And then the Blues got tired. We were told that in Chicago that in the next round the game will be normal."

Nyet, comrade, because that unpleasant team just won the next round, too

Had to look to see if this was the Buffalo kid. Indeed a physical big body that knocks people down.............. But I'd prefer a physical mean Dman who can skate 15-18 minutes a night on the bottom pair.

I wanted the Hawks to get him this year they need his hitting. I wwouldn't mind Dalton Prout from Columbus. Bam we added the toughness we need, now we just need a D with speed and LW with speed and scoring.

Totally agree on AAV and term. Pencil him in at 3L/4L. Any more is gravy. Set expectation lower and over-achieve.

What about trying Panik at 2LW, and bumping the Bread Man up to play alongside the Captain?

Blues are getting dominated in a lot of ways but they have been putting away their chances and getting some help from a lousy moment of SJ goaltending.

The goals still count, but all it is for the Blues is one deflection after another as their shot attempts. Oh, and try to hurt everyone with every check. Oh, and hold and interfere with everyone. Slows the game down and cheapens the on-ice product.

Or Kevin Miller, Defenceman, Boston. Tough kid who continues to improve. Pretty good numbers too. Believe he's a UFA. Definitely need some more bite in the lineup, especially if Shaw goes.

Am a little worried here that the Sharks, too, are playing a perimeter game that StL seems to be very good at shutting down. They're a lot better at the possession game than the Blackhawks, but they have to convert....

Or it could have been that Stevie Y was not going to relent under any circumstances and grant a trade, and in doing so set a precedent for the future...

If the Blues win the Stanley Cup, Elliot's post and crossbar should win the Conn Smythe ....

JJ - any chance that the hawks can trade Bickell to a cap floor team if they include a lower draft pick and prospect? I'm guessing it would have to be a guy decent enough to make someone bite. Have you heard if that's been discussed at all?

With the window of opportunity being what it is you have to think the 4M cap savings is worth losing the other assets for some breathing room. Outside of a buyout I don't see any other way they get rid of that cap hit this year.

- blackhawks30

Highly doubtful. You have a better chance of winning Power Ball. There isn't really much incentive for a cap floor team to take on Bickell when his cap hit is basically the same as his salary. If Stan can pull it off though, he will be GM of the century.

I wonder if the Canes would part with Fleury for a TT, Pokka, and Bicks type return

Someone said Gudas earlier. Like him it does not seem to be the type of defenseman that Chicago covets right now

Maybe, but I'm not sure that's the kind of deal they're looking to make.
