He probably would not, but Ottawa is close to his home town. - DarthKane
If Cro wants to play for a winner, Ottawa is 50000 miles from his hometown and owned by a first class jerk who aint got no money. |

The plan to move craw is so they can keep darling, shaw, and panarin, TT, that is 14 mil and that group right now makes 5, you keep craw and the only guy staying is TT. people complain about SAAD at 6 X 6 he is going to score 150 5X5 goals in that time frame that would put him in the top 5 in league. 6 million is 1-2 mil less then production. - kmw4631
If they don't have any goaltending it doesn't matter what forwards they keep, an team can't win in the NHL without it. |

Worse trade ever, Stan really f'd that up. Only thing I can think of is they had an idea what Danault would need to be resigned for and they weren't planning on giving him that.
In the end, I think they chose Kruger over Danault, although I for one was happy with Toews, AA, Danault and Kruger for the next 5 years down the middle. - vabeachbear
To be fair, the bottom 6 was a mess all year. Stan went out and found what he thought were capable veteran wingers to help solidify that for Q. We saw what happened with that. The Q yo-yo then benched. Weise looked better at the end of the Blues series. He hardly got a sniff prior to. Its not Q's job to pout over not getting everything on wish list. Play your best 12 and let the chips fall. Weise was picked up for the dump/chase war that is playoff hockey. Thats on Q for not using him correctly.
So your top 4 C for next year are 19, 15, 22 and 70. Yes Moose is the best option right now to C that 4th line. |

So, Saad was not worthy? This feels like an eerily similar situation..... - EnzoD
There is nothing similar to it at the moment. One. The Hawks were tight against the cap going into this season and signing Saad to anything but a short term deal was going to be tough. Two. Saad's agent said from the start they had no interests in contract talk going into last season and Panarin's agent indicated back in Jan or Feb in an interview on the Score, IIRC, that they would be interested in talking about a deal after this season. Three. Panarin could have gone anywhere but CHOOSE to come to the Hawks,
The situations aren't similar to me at all. |

I don't know...I've heard some really good things about TRASH. Apparently he's really strong on the puck and has an underrated wrist shot. |

Not at all. Looks like a knee. Or an ankle, seeing the replay one more time. |

Has a few locker room issues, but nothing that a little Old Spice deodorant won't help.

If you move Crawford it is not going to be a case where you get a value for value return. You might get something that helps fill a hole (a useful top 9 winger, a defenseman) but you can't take a lot of salary back in the deal and you might have to take someone's lesser paid goalie back. It's about cap room this year and next year. Which is why dealing for a Mason whose deal expires next summer, net savings up to $6 million (Panarin?), and saves you $2 million this year MIGHT make some sense.
There IS a tradeoff. And I don't think they deal CC unless they believe that a combination of Darling and a veteran obtained in a CC deal or elsewhere (like maybe Johansson who is 27 and has a lot of pro experience overseas—think Niemi in 2010) can carry the load.
I don't think they are exploring dealing Seabrook either. - John Jaeckel
Read your speculation about Mason a few blogs back and found it interesting, as IMO it seems like a fit for cap space to sign (?) and for a contributing goalie next year IF the Hawks have the balls to move Crawford.
Question, which NHL goalie who's played 1,500 minutes (minimum starter type minutes) ranks in the top 3 in 5 on 5 save percentage the last two years? Steve Mason. I know this cuz Cordell always brings it up, and this was done behind a "challenged" Philly D. If Panarin is asking more than 5.5 Mil...the Hawks will need to trade Seabrook and Shaw unless the Cap goes up by 3 Mil. Trading Crawford only would not be an option because we also need 2 quality Defensemen and a left winger on first or second line that can score. Tough times for Stan & CO. |

He's an RFA and I thought this was who the Hawks might be pursuing back during the tie of interest in Michel Boedkker. I thought Killorn looked good against us in the Finals last year, too. |

Tampa is going to have massive cap problems, but I think they get through it by letting Stamkos walk this year (or trading his rights for a 7th-round pick). Then I think they let Bishop walk the next year. Bye-bye $13.5M in cap hit.
The nice part is they don't really need Stamkos. And I think Vasilevsky will prove to be a capable #1, especially behind Victor Hedman and Co. |

The have some significant free agents (RFA and UFA) over the next couple of seasons. The Lightning spend a lot on defense, they'll eventually have to more one of those guys (excluding Hedman). |
