And to think there was/is so many IDIOTS who blamed Snider for the Flyers losing, or bad player signings, but never gave him credit when they won or a good signing...CLUELESS PEOPLE. Ed Snider was the best owner in philly sports history, not even close IMO.

Really? I hardly ever heard a negative word said about him.

Only time I ever heard anyone say anything bad was the knee-jerk Bryzgalov deal after the goalie fiasco. Other than that, never heard a bad thing about him.

People complained that he seemed to lean on management to "win now," but no one ever seemed to hold it against him.

Well if we were to get Stammer and Trouba, that's est. $17M ($10 M (minimum) Stamkos + the $7M Trouba is supposedly trying to get) I'd imagine cap may get complicated once Jake's and Cout's contracts kick in plus signing one of our goalies and later extending Ghost. So one of Schenn or Simmonds may need to be moved for cap purposes.
- arichardson22

Yea but this is predicated on us getting Stammer or Trouba which is none to none, at best. Hexy has repeated, stated over and over, he isn't willing to give up assets, or sign long, cap-damaging contracts/build thru FA. he is dedicated to building this team from the draft, signing cap friendly deals, and loading up on assets. I don't understand how we're now trading for Trouba and signing Stammer to a $10M contract. Simmonds is a virtual lock to be on this team, 25-30 goal scorers dont usually have cap hits under 4mil, especially when those players are just approaching their prime years.

Right...and I'm not sold that he actually named Bryzgalov...but I do believe he made it clear that he wanted new goaltending and then panic ensued.

None of this speculation was my idea, nor was I agreeing with it. I simply was stating IF those moves happened they would have to be moved.

Trust me, I want Simmonds and Schenn here to stay for the long run (especially Simmonds since I have his jersey )

i cant help but think when people say they want trouba, stamkos, lucic, etc., etc., that they need to put the Hexy glasses on. I mean, the Trouba argument I think is asinine due to all the talent and prospects we have on the blue line, and some that may have immediate effects, as close as next year.

I know our offense was hurting last year, but learning a new system that isnt as necessarily as aggressive as previous ones, in addition to having to learn it period, im not surprised we took a step back in the goal scoring. once this system becomes second nature to players, our scoring should go up. Also, i think players like Konecny obviously, but more so Aube-Kubel, Fazleev, Laughton, Cousins, Leier, are only a year or two away from contributing offensively. I know they arent all blue chippers or were, or are, but i think Laughton and Cousins definitely have more to offer, and Fazleev and NAK had great offensive years. again, i know they arent first rounders, but they clearly have offensive skill, and its just a matter of translating that to the NHL. If hakstol can do the job he did with Coots and Schenn this year, im very confident in what he can do for the others.

Winnipeg is not trading Trouba for picks unless they are damn high.

They are coming out of a rebuild, not getting into one.

Not positive of that, they have the #2 pick this year, so they could really look at a full scale rebuild

They're loaded with young players either on the team or coming... What exactly are they rebuilding at this point?

No, they'll just add Laine to their already super-impressive stable of 25-under future stars.

Dallas doesn't have a 2nd and is probably losing their first in the russel trade. I would offer a 2nd rounder for him. Maybe a 2nd and HAgg.
- J35Bacher

Dallas does have Lindell, Nemeth and Honka. They would have zero need Hägg.

Lindell is playing at WC for Sweden.

What they need is a goaltender and a team willing to take Neimi back in return as a part of a bigger deal.

I know this is off topic, but count me as someone who'd like to see the NHL switch the playoff seeding rules back closer to what they were before, but with a bit of a twist. They can keep the same divisions they have now, and each division's regular-season winner automatically makes the playoffs. The twist would be that the seeds are purely by record, and not necessarily where the 2nd best division winner gets the #2 seed. So, applying that to this season's Eastern Conference, you'd have, in order: WAS, PIT, FLA, NYR, NYI, TAB, Flyers, DET.

Doing it this way would probably have resulted in the Flyers losing in the first round anyway... so you can see I'm not suggesting this method to get the Flyers farther in this year's playoffs... but really to keep the best teams away from each other until the Conference Finals.

P.S. I know we couldn't have known this ahead of time... but seeding this way would have resulted in the Battle for PA, the Battle for FL, and the Battle for NY all in the first round... that would have been cool to see.

It doesn't work for the west. Travel is an issue. No one out west wants to be in a Nashville-San Jose series, let alone one back to back.
