or neither.

either way, no way you can pay similar money to Kucherov and then shell out all those draft picks.

- Slump Buster

how may bolt games have you watched over the last 2 years?

kuch and stamkos is exactly what this team needs to complete our top 6

I love the guy - that wasn't my point. In dreamland we could only afford one of them, and if you can only afford one you go with the guy that doesn't cost you four #1's.

1.) Yes but will cost more though IMO 7 years $10.5 is a start
2.) Yes
3.) Yes but will want more term which I am not giving him
4.) See above
5.) He is going to get more term and probably $7 million per season so he is a no
6.) Eh I want better

- Stripes77

Agree with those thoughts

I think Campbell stays in Florida, or maybe signs a 1 year deal with someone like Chicago, etc

I think the only UFA I'm actually interested in is Stamkos
The other big names will likely demand deals that are too long for me to be comfortable at their age
I don't wanna sign guys past 35yrs old

Meh he's bound to breakdown sooner rather than later.

6yrs takes him to essentially 34yrs old.

If we could swing it, I'm all for it!
Seems kinda far fetched though
Tampa would have to match any Kucherov offer sheet
Can't see them letting him go right after Stamkos walks

Sure its what they need...they just cant afford it:

Stamkos $10 million
O'Reilly $7.5 million
Kucherov $7.5 million ( I think Tampa matches anyway)
Eichel $8 million
Reinhart $7 million
Risto $6.5 million
Lehner $5 million (if not him some goalie making close to that)
McCabe $4 million (if not more if he is to be Risto's partner)

$55.5 million on 8 players.

5 forwards
2 defensemen
1 goalie

Then there are these guys:

Ennis $4.6 contract has 1 year left (when Eichel and Reinhart get paid)
Bogosian $5.1 million has 2 years left
Kane is gone
Moulson has 1 year left at $5 million

$14.7 million

You're at $70.2 million with 11 players signed. If you move any of those guys you need talent to replace them which is going to get paid (not counting Moulson)

$70 million with 12 more players needing to be signed.

You can't have both...ad not have 1st round picks

I agree that Tampa matches, but just for fun...

We should be able to get rid of Moulson by then
Bogo can definitely be traded- hopefully Pysyk &/or Nelson have developed into a legit 2nd pair guy by then
Ennis can also be easily traded

Those trades, plus trading Kane should help us bring in more talent
Plus, we have guys that are/will be cheaper we can build around those top5 forwards with
Larsson, Girgensons & Foligno are already here and will all be less than 2 mil each
Coming up...
Schaller, Fasching, Bailey, Baptiste, Hurley, Carrier, Catenacci, Olofsson, Possler, Karabacek, Estephan, Malone, Cornel...
And I'm sure I'm forgetting some
Those guys all have bottom6 potential at least
Of course, some won't work out
But it's also likely that a couple will be better than expected too

Also...
We should be good enough at that point where we can attract guys like Panarin or Vesey to slot into our lineup
And vet UFAs would potentially sign here on the cheap to make a run at the Cup

I still think it's unlikely that Tampa doesn't match
It's hard to see any team not matching when they've got a player that good

But I do think it can be done

Interesting

Brodin, Dumba...
They've got a few young ones I like

I'm assuming Suter isn't going anywhere

I think NEXT offseason is when we can call up Anaheim &/or Nashville to potential snag one of their good young guys

Question:

Sign Stamkos for 10 or 11 mil per

or

Throw an offer sheet at Kucherov for 8mil per

- MCGUIZZY

Kucherov !!! But we hate Russians so it won't happen

The Sabres have no chance at getting Stamkos this summer because we didn't get Babcock last summer

Anyone worth while is going to cost money. Not just players and picks (that we don't have at this point due to the offer sheet)

That $15 million in Moulson, Bogo and Ennis that is moved you listed 3 players that will cost about 6 million total so you save $9 million

You are now at $61 million with 11 players signed. You need 12 more players to sign with $21 million to work with and you need another top 6 forward, 2 top 4 D, an entire 4th line, an entire bottom pairing D and a back up goaltender...

$1.66 million average per person left to work with.

Sucks about draft tickets - going to be nearly impossible for an average person to get in.

One person we don't talk about it all and he's fallen out of favor with the Islanders
Ryan Strome He still has potential to be a great player I think would be a great combination with Jack
