He has a NTC and he's not going anywhere. San Jose is Bushwood to NHL players. They play the game and nobody talks about it , there's no newspaper coverage of it and after the game there's a 5 minute postgame ......... and that's it. They go out to eat, nobody recognizes them .... they live in big homes and nobody bothers them. In other words ......... nobody in San Jose gives a rat's ass about hockey. It is as anti-Buffalo/Toronto and it comes.

His last few years in the playoffs aren't bad at all. Plus he wouldn't even be the 3rd option here.

I'd bet he's the guy Murray was talking about when he said he wanted to make a Patrick Sharp like trade with a cap strapped team

Anyone worth while is going to cost money. Not just players and picks (that we don't have at this point due to the offer sheet)

That $15 million in Moulson, Bogo and Ennis that is moved you listed 3 players that will cost about 6 million total so you save $9 million

You are now at $61 million with 11 players signed. You need 12 more players to sign with $21 million to work with and you need another top 6 forward, 2 top 4 D, an entire 4th line, an entire bottom pairing D and a back up goaltender...

$1.66 million average per person left to work with.

- Stripes77

Ok, here goes...
Pysyk, Nelson, McCabe & Guhle, + 7th dman... 6mil total
Larsson, Foligno, Girgs... 4.5 total
For argument's sake,
Let's say Fasching is the other top6 guy... 1mil
4th line of (whoever)...
But let's say Schaller, Bailey, Rodrigues (knew I forgot ppl) and Deslauriers...
4mil

That adds up to 15.5mil out of the 21mil u said I had to work with

That extra 5mil, plus the 2mil or so the cap goes up each year...
That helps with the eventual raises for McCabe, Fasching, etc
Or say Fasching gets too expensive...
Then u trade him for another young cheap asset that can step in
Or maybe u have Bailey or Baptiste or whoever step into that role
And they're still making 1mil till they get too expensive...
And so on

I do get what you're saying
It would certainly be tough
But, IMO it is possible

I want a guy that will score a clutch goals
I want a guy that shows up
I want a guy they puts everything on the line just for the win
I want Some one who Wil put the team on its back and gets them motivated when their down

Do you think Rick Nash is that ? then I will take him

Unless he starts playing 70+ games a year I don't think they should resign him
- sbroads24

I really like the guy
Even if he plays 60 games a year & is productive
The we just give Fasching, Bailey, Girgs, etc. the icetime
As long as he's there kicking ass in the playoffs, the reg season doesn't worry me too much
I get your point though
If we do sign Stamkos, I think it prob means the end of Kane (and Ennis) at some point... But hopefully we can trade them for a good return

And we have the guys to step up & fill their slots

I think the 40 goal superstar Nash is gone. But I think the 25 goal Nash could still be there.

We already have the guys that "need to show up" in the playoffs. Nash could be had cheap IMO

My only problem is what happens if he's not ready for the playoffs if injured? I just can't trust this dude he missed so many open nets this year and so many posts it was ridiculous
talking to Winnipeg fans they say that's what he usually does so that has me scared

Nash is pricy
But...
-he scored over 40g just a year ago
-his cap hit makes the NYR (prob) wanna dump him for very cheap... I'm thinking a 3rd might actually be enough. But even if it's something like Carrier & a 2nd, ok. I can def live w that
-he's only under contract for a few more years... So it makes him WAY less risky than signing Eriksson, Ladd, etc. I don't wanna give these guys 7 year deals

All things considered...
Probably worth the risk
Nash-Eichel-Reinhart
That could be one heck of a line

But I'm also totally cool if we go another route
Stamkos, Hoffman...
Even Yakupov. Def not my 1st choice, but it's a low risk gamble. I wouldn't mind seeing if he could work out.

Should be interesting to see which way Murray heads this offseason

I wish Murray didn't hate Russian players so we could offer sheet the poop out of Kucherov if we don't get Stamkos

That's all fair...
But it's also not like we're locked into him for the next 8years either

We've got a couple years to figure out just how & where he fits
And if he doesn't,
He'll still produce enough to have decent trade value

He could even work out so good that it gets to the point where we don't wanna pay him, & we need Fasching or Bailey or whoever to take his place

We just gotta wait n see

I nerded out & saw it twice
Thought it was pretty good, not great though
7.5/10

It's obvious that they're introducing new characters to take over for the guys like Iron man & Capt America, etc...
Can't expect those guys to play that role forever

I was never big into the comics,
But I do know that many different guys filtered in & out of the Avengers

Maybe at some point Marvel gets the xmen rights back & u see Wolverine join in?

At any rate,
I feel they wrote the movies well enough to keep it all interesting
So I'll keep going
