I'd trade all of ours for Ekblad.

"Benning said the 2nd pick they got as compensation from CLB is in play - its likely a 2018 pick. Hoping to use it to sweeten a D trade deal."

Benning giving more picks away

- LeftCoaster

IF anything we should offer them our two 7 rounders so that they give it to us this year. With our take a dman and with their pick grab tyler benson.

When's the last time we had a Dman score 15 ? let alone a 20 year old.

Agreed that the losing culture can exist, in every year of hockey for these guys, they always knew if they were on a bad team they would get a fresh start at the next level. The NHL is the top, so if youre losing there, your only choice is to keep plugging away. I would rather take losing seasons for the next 3 years than to gift wrap spots for these kids though, thats the attitude I would hate to see. I got that impression from JV in the early going, that he made the team in the summer and I think sending him the WJC's was the eye opener for him and he played great in the second half. I also think thats why Nylander performed well for the Leafs at the end of the year and why the Detroit prospects do well when they come up, they earn it

Is Tyler Benson projected to be that good in the NHL? I haven't seen him play and his jr. numbers don't look that impressive.

Was rated top 10 pick to start the year, now is rated probably 30-45. Had a couple random injuries that derailed his season but still averaged a point a game. We are thin at LW and it would be high risk high reward type pick.

Does anybody know why RHD Philip Larsen is not playing for Denmark's World Championship team?
- YeOldTimer

Maybe same as Hamhuis. He doesn't want to play in case of injury and not being signed under contract?

I heard he had some injuries. just wish he was a bit bigger...

JB has a lot on his plate. looking at that consensus rankings, I guess he just slipped out of the first round and isn't such a reach with our second round pick.

Someone posted this link earlier.

He has been free falling in ratings and has had a lot of injuries this year.

He doesn't suit our needs. Giants were not a good team for last two years

Ronning would be a better pick up with a 4 th round pick . I think Benson is 50 -60

I keep hearing him mentioned by the local media, but half the time it is just the story line of what they want to write or talk about.

I was hoping we would pick another dman, but either way, I hope JB goes with the bpa.

I think Benning will take a Dman at 33 and 63 but may grab Ronning at 93

He's speedy and on the big ice that can be an asset…other than that pretty much it.

Playing him with Austin Matthews and Patrick Maroon? That seems weird on a lot of levels. The guy is 25 and hasn't done jack in the NHL. Is there not more American players that want to go to loss a tournament in Russia?

Wait, this is their roster!? Who the (frank) are these guys?

Thats what im hoping for. If we could add to CBJ to grab the pick this year i would take benson unless another dman looks good there.

It's a second rate tournament held in Russia. USA have a crap team. Most top players said no thanks I will vacation in Hawaii instead.

I still would take another Dman or take a chance on a high scoring smaller forward.
I don't want to be hard on Benson but he is not that great.

I here ya, it be nice if we could come away with 3 dmen in the first 3 rounds and 1 forward. But I also want to deal Edler, hansen, vey, miller and granland. Burrows and higgins buy out or just have them there for another season I dont care. I just want 1 more year of bad hockey so we can get some more high picks then also hopefully grab some nice pieces before the expansion draft.

To me he is LW version of Horvat and just had rough year. If healthy next year he could tear it up. Id also be ok Bastian if we grab another second.

I have trust in Benning to find two top four Dmen in the summer . I think if we keep away from bringing back expired/expiring contracts we will have a good team .

I am already excited to see what Bo Sven and Etem are going to bring .

I remember when I wasn't a big fan of the fire sale tank.

My advice to you: get over it.

As it turns out, Russia's just as nice as Prague so far. Players and media alike are loving it. And the weather is almost as nice as Hawaii.

Tomorrow's a day off for Canada and the U.S., so I think it's sightseeing time for all of us.

And yeah, the American roster looked pretty bad on paper, but they played a real good game tonight, just barely losing to Finland. Much improved from the Canada game on Friday.

It is weird that Jordan Schroeder is playing with Matthews - and now, with Frank Vatrano of Boston as the other winger - but they had a pretty good game today, with Maroon and Foligno providing the snarl on the top line. Dylan Larkin has also looked good but the U.S. depth up front is not as good as Canada's—or Finland's.

As for Michael Matheson - he's the same age as Hutton and they played against each other in college, but he was a first-rounder. Florida kept him mostly in the AHL this year but he played in the playoffs, which I guess is how he attracted the attention of the Team Canada staff. He has been really good on both sides of the puck.

Really? Through trades and/or UFA signings? Where was this trust developed?
That's a lot to expect from JB. I think that would be an absolute homerun for JB if he was to pull that off.
