Scooby, you haven't brought your humor or unique outlook to the Leafs thread for a while

- Aetherial

Why should he, half the Leaf thread ends up here everyday any way.

Take a chill pill Scoob. Since when was it offensive to write trade proposals on hockeybuzz.
- Codes1087

I said I'm out. Stop talking to me.
My trade proposal for Nuge was tongue in cheek. It just happens that it was closer to a possibility than most dumb trades, so it gets people wondering if it might actually happen. That offer for Matthews is so ridiculous that it's not worth posting.

I'm not a big fan of the fire sale tank, but if you're Vancouver you have no untouchables and should explore every avenue to be better a few years from now. If the rebuild goes well and the team is ready to compete in 3 years, is Tanev a part of that? Probably but not to the extent he would be right now, the asset will have depreciated. He has a great contract, which increases his value but selling at peak is important. Imagine trading Burrows before this current contract had kicked in? The return would have been massive compared to his value now.

Chicago has done well to sell high on pieces, Vancouver should look at the same. They are in no rush to make a deal, but should keep an eye on things for sure

- WhiteLie

I remember when I wasn't a big fan of the fire sale tank.

My advice to you: get over it.

haha if seeing a out of the box trade on hockeybuzz sets you off this much than you must be an absolute treat in real life :D
You might as well not come back to the site until POST draft if you are going to get this angry. Expect to see this stuff daily until then.

one piece of the new core for one piece of the old core. We end up with a center and a winger. I don't see it happening cause, as lefty said, Edler will not want to go to edmonton.
- neem55

I misunderstood what Lefty said. I assumed he meant trade the 5th and Edler for the 4rth. No way Edler gets the 4rth overall so I kind of easily missed that one...

I would try and trade Tanev to Toronto.
Tanev + Bo +CBJ2nd + Van2nd for 1OA
We use that and draft Laine
Then trade 5OA to Edm for RNH and Emd 2nd.
Use the Edm 2nd to draft D.
The lines will be
Laine RNH JV
Sedin Sedin Sutter
Bear McCan Hansen
Dorset Grunland Etem/Gaunce

Edler Tree
Larsen Hutton
Sbisa Schenn
Pedan Beiga

Purolator has put me in a really bad mood, the poor driver has no idea what kind of a poop storm he's walking into when he gets here.

I'm not a fan for its long term effects, I like being competitive and giving the young players hope that they can make the playoffs if they continue to work hard and play well. Short term I can appreciate its effectiveness, and how the fire sale can allow the accumulation of midround picks. If Van moves one of Edler/Tanev, I imagine that Hamhuis would be brought back to help stabilize things, unless the return brought someone better back

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.

I was really concerned that the Leafs finishing last this year might foster a culture of losing.

Why throw out decades of excellence for one lousy pick?

to your point, the Canucks have relatively recent regular season championships back to back, and had a streak of 7 or 8 straight division championships...
