Jake spent half of the year away from Clode with Coots healthy. He has been split from him before and does fine. They don't need each other no matter what some say. During Jake's best stretch of this year, he was playing with Coots. Berube never paired them together, but Hak did during the 2nd half quite often. As long as Jake is healthy, that is a monster puck possession duo. Impossible to strip, always on offense. Raffl was on their left, which made it even crazier. They were a force. Wouldn't surprise me to see Hak go back to it next year. He should .G worked with 10 and 17 too.
Then Jake got injured and is now an awful player on a bad contract who obviously needs Giroux based on how he played at the end injured - Mononoke
haha i never implied that jake needs giroux or vice versa. or meant to anyway.
i think a full offseason to heal and get situated will make a world of difference for jake. |

Hedman had 8 points in the series, and held Tavares without a point over the last 4 games. What an absolute monster. |

Cool to disagree.
I am not a fan but I love how the Caps play. On the edge, physical and skilled.
I look forward to whoever exposes the Penguins for what they are. This whole approach of being above the dirty stuff in a game. Get under their skin and watch them fall apart. They are still the Penguins. - flyer_nutter
Yea for real... I think they're just a tough team and some are butt hurt cause their annointed hof'ers got clowned in that series. |

I know what you are getting at.
I'll be the first to say I am a big fan of both, but the writing is on the wall for Jake and Giroux whenever the next playoff comes around.
Boys have to produce. |

Giroux had produced in 5 of his previous playoff appearances, has one series against a better team missing their second line center and coming off a stretch fun where I just think he was gassed and the writing is on the wall. |

This.
And don't Carle and Coburn know they suck and shouldn't be playing for a team advancing to the eastern conference finals? |

Are Stamkos and Stralman coming back for the next round? - PLindbergh31
Think Stralman is close, and Stamkos is skating but clearance could be a while yet. |

Jake had an awful year. No sugar-coating it. I wouldn't use anything from this past season as any sort of benchmark or to defend his play. Hopefully he's home drinking some Czech beer, eating momma's dumplings, driving very slow on those country roads, and getting ready for next season. He can and absolutely should do a lot better. |

Please. He would've had 62 points in a full season. Not the best year, but in today's low scoring era, that's still top line elite level numbers. Stamkos though, with 68 points in a full year gets slobbered over on here with talk of paying him $3 million more than Jake.
He can do better. His season was a story of 3 parts: firstly, great play, unlucky scoring results. Then he had over a point per game for over 30 games mid way through the year. All his haters who stick their fingers in their ears always miss that fact. Then he got injured: all afterwards doesn't deserve to be judged. He was laboring and did what he could. He can do better, but don't act as if his year was an unmitigated disaster. When healthy, he looked good, even through the early slump and after. The "Jake is overpaid and had a bad year" narrative is just making stuff up. He just needs to "work harder" and "care more"...that's it! |

I think the poster offered legitimate criticism of Voracek. What did he go, 30 games scoring 1 goal or something like that? That was before any injuries. It wasn't just bad luck either. Luck is created. He was a perimeter player, who wasn't getting to the high percentage areas. He did not have a great season, and criticism, while also considering the injury is fair . Nobody is missing any facts. He needs to be better, and I believe that he will be better. |

90% of my posts you respond to, and they are always meant to start an argument. I can't write a single damn thing the last few days without you commenting on it. Don't play the innocent -- we know how you operate. I asked you to not respond to me multiple times, you simply can't help yourself. And you've only been back a few days. Recidivism at its finest. Maybe you could use another "vacation."

Bonds-like. He had 232 walks in a year. That's just....whoa. That's walking in over 1/3 if your at bats. |
