It's really all his fault. He and Fraud Giroux should go make failure babies together.

He'd be so torn.
"Great, another 2 ex-Flyers won a Cup, I get to go be an bumhole and post about how the Flyers suck and trade players who win Cups. First up...Matt Carle? Huh, never woulda seen that one. 'HAHA FLYERS TRADE ANOTHER CUP WINNER MATT CARLE LOL FLYERS ARE THE WORST.' Okay and....wait, this can't be right. No, no, this must be wrong...it can't be. He's the worst player in the history of ever in the NHL. No NO NONONONONOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..."

Murray has been great. Maybe too small a sample though for the Penguins to commit to him, and jettison MAF. Although the cap space they would save would be substantial. - PLindbergh31
I hate this line of thinking. How do guys get roles? By playing well in the opportunity they get.
How big of a sample did Bishop provide? I think it was like 29 games at the NHL level between St. Louis and Ottawa before the Lightening took a chance to acquire him and make him the starter.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Ovechkin is the best goal scorer the NHL has seen in probably 20 years. - PLindbergh31
no question about it. He scores 50 in a era where scoring has been markedly down.

I was thinking the same...
Is it strictly money? Or does he want to play with a team that has a chance to contend now, or at least within a year or two? Because I don't think Toronto is a year or two away from being a legit contender...
He's in his prime now and Tampa is surging now. I think Yzerman will find a way to keep him. He may need to make a trade or two, but it's in both parties best interest for him to stay put and get his name on the cup, IMO. - WhirlingDervish
And tampa can play a little hard ball. They are showing then can win without him. So does he want to be part of that at 9-10 million or go be the lead dog in Toronto for 11-12 and have all the pressure to lead them to a cup and deal with all the critical comments about how Toronto spend all this money on a guy who can't lead them to the playoffs and cup. |

Well, yeah, they took a chance on him. I think the Penguins are doing the same. He's playing well, but the Penguins probably want to make sure he's not the next Patrick Lalime. They'll likely keep both and move one or the other (probably MAF) when they have a better idea if he's the real deal.
Like you, said, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's nice to have a backup plan (MAF) if it doesn't. |

The exchange rate is also pretty brutal. Some finance person can probably do it, but I imagine Florida could offer $1M per year less than Toronto and Stamkos could still walk away with more money in the end. Florida is also built to contend now and in the future. Plus, it's (frank)ING 70 DEGREES IN THE WINTER - PhillySportsGuy

I think Murray is the real deal. But he's only played maybe 20-25 NHL games. Tough decision. They will probably keep both next year. |

I could see Fleury moved this offseason. I usually don't believe Ek but I think Calgary will be hard after goalies. They could go after Reimer as UFA but not much else really.
Will be interesting to see what the Ducks do with Andersen since he is a RFA and they have Gibson signed.
Dallas goaltending has seemed to struggle but I think both guys are signed two more years. Maybe they move one to free some space.
And Philly will probably let both goalies battle this season before committing to one long term.

I could see them moving him and trying to clear some cap space this offseason. But he does have a NMC so it's not going to be easy.
Edit:
I think if they announce details of a expansion draft you could see more players moved if the teams don't plan to protect them instead of losing them for nothing. |

I hear ya, but I hate the Pens more. - BiggE
Same. Enough with the Pens and their 4 generation players in my lifetime. Flyers got 2 maybe 2.5 if you consider Pelle Lindbergh. |
