We scored 51 less goals this year compared to last, are you saying they all came from injured players?
- A_SteamingLombardi

No not at all but was a byproduct of Vrbata as a no show & injuries & playing so many of the kids. Not surprised at all we sank to 28th when its all said.

Again Hanks injury and Vrbata being a b1tch probably accounted for 30 of those 50 goals lost.

do you pick him over tkachuk? Both sound good. Tkachuk is likely more of a sure thing.
The thing w dubois is we already know it will take him many years to develop....elite power forwards are typical this way. Lots of teams give up on these types....bertuzzi was an example. After 4 years in the system NYI gave up on him and offered him to van, where 2 years later he blossomed. Neely was another...
Do we look for tkachuk to add skill immediately or to develop dubois for a C position?

I want the center.

Vrbata and Miller were the quick fix the year before and Aquilini got his 3 playoff dates. I'm not expecting much from quick fixes other than FA getting his playoff revenue. I don't think this team has decided on a rebuild, all I see is status quo.

How do you replace 50 goals? Excellent question.

A healthy Hank who can shoot the puck without being in pain would account for 5-10 more

Replacing Vrbata and his 12 goals with a twenty to twenty five top line winger is another 10-15

Replacing Burrows and his 8 goals with another top 6 winger who scores about 20 goals a year.

Improvement by Bo and Sven even if 5 more each would be another 10.

More production from the D and removing Hamhuis for a guy that can put in about 10 goals a year.

It's a group fix not just one player

ASL i'm not trying to be argumentitive with your posts.
I do respect your knowledge & views on what we need to do to turn the team around.
I find u pragmatic & reasonable vs the tanknation types.

It's possible , we need to see the summer plays out. I would be extremely disappointed if they just go with status quo.

I think we are in the midst of a rebuild. I don't think there will be any intentional tanking unless we are eliminated from a playoff position next season and assets are moved out.

That is my point, we are not going to replace 50 goals so stop trying to bring in quick fixes and start building a team the proper way and ask the fans to be patient, but that wont work with this fan base. Any UFA they bring in they must be prepared to trade at the TDL if things don't work out, so that means NO NTC for UFAs and they are going to want them, Miller and Vrbata both got them, they are not going to want to sign here without a NTC, because we are not a contender.

My prediction is Eriksson and Hamhuis as our summer signing both with NTCs

You're preaching to the choir with the NTCs

You do need to trade and find good UFAs.

I think after the way this year and lottery results Aquillini will fire the first manager to mention tank.

The truth was we should have beaten Calgary but got our asses handed to us because we were soft . We had a good regular season team , but didn't have a good playoff team.

We are going to have to wait and see what moves are made then we might know if they are in a rebuild or just shooting for the playoff revenue. A lot of stuff is going to have to happen for this team to compete at the level of the current playoff teams, we don't have the speed, size or overall talent and I think a lot of fans aren't willing to realize that. This will take 5-6 years.

Im on the fence about it. I like tkachuk a lot though. He's a slam dunk good player.

if its all forwards in the 1st 4 then we take whats available.... if oilers pick a D at 4 then its all choice.
I like how JB immediately said he'd be talking to other GMs about who they'll pick, that should give him the heads up and know his choice ahead of time.

and yes I like the sound of Logan Stanley at #33

Give stammer max everything
Draft tkachuk
Sign Lucic

Tkachuk stammer Lucic
Sedin Sedin Sutter
Baer Horvat Virtanen/Hansen
Dorsett GranLund/McCann whoever

Mix lines as needed that's a solid team

Understandable. He is a risk of never blossoming though. But the sound of playing like Jamie Benn may be worth that risk.

I remember Mtl jumping ahead of us to draft Tinordi. If Mtl are high on drafting him that might be a red flag

ya remember the years the nyr tried to sign every high profile UFA in pre cap era?
They had the most stacked team ever in history and never once made the playoffs with it..... design of disaster. Wasnt built right and even selected the correct ufas despite the star names. No role players ....too many major attitudes in 1 room....Couldnt believe that was Sather that did that.

While I do think it balances out does it create chemistry? Paper it looks great but...
