If we bring back Schultz I'm fairly happy with the NHL roster for the next 2 years.

Medium term we need to continue to try and find young wingers to pair with Crosby/Malkin especially as they age pairing them with higher quality wingers will be important.

Longer-term it would be nice to find a way to acquire a potential #1C. Someone we could pair with Murray as a core for the post Malkin/Crosby years or atleast their over 35 years. Tough to find. Occasionally a late 1st/2nd develops into that. Fleury is about our only chip to acquire a top ten pick to even get a lottery ticket at that.

Fehr is definitely playing tonight... I think if we keep the game tied or have the lead after the first, we finish this series in five. The only adjustment that I would like to see is using Dumolion more. He has the ability to play on the PP. His minutes are very low for his talent level.

They aren't everything. And you have to consider scheme and how a guy will fit into your organization. Understand correlation and causations to realize what matters, but they have clearly had a beneficial effect on both franchises.

Agreed. Sometimes you can ignore fancy stats if the team in question is severely mismanaging their assets.

But they are useful in choosing between Bonino or Sutter.

They aren't everything. And you have to consider scheme and how a guy will fit into your organization. Understand correlation and causations to realize what matters, but they have clearly had a beneficial effect on both franchises.

I have no strong opinion there. That's a lot of money to throw at a guy who had a couple good months. Neil Walker trade was stupid. Would have been smarter to trade him for prospects and pay up a little on Happ.

Think they are banking on the young arms stepping in midseason and ending up in the wild card game. I wouldn't have minded it if they went with that strategy but paid on a 1b slugger.
