That's a question Staple should be reporting as soon as their season commences.

Hopefully he gets fired if they do. Really have grown to dislike the guy. With that said none of these guys are getting fired unfortunately.

I can't believe how pissed off I am about the loss. I can't decide if it would be better for them to lose tomorrow and get it over with or for them to drag it out.

Yeah, it's very hard to bring myself to ever root against the Isles, no matter how much I'd like to see Cappy and/or Snow replaced. The only time I remember rooting against them was when they needed to finish last overall to maximize their chances of drafting JT........and even then I would backslide and get excited when they scored a goal.

I meant it only as a point of fact. When do Malkin & Ledecky actually gain majority control? It's interesting that no new contracts have be given since Hickey was signed nor has there been any indication that management are all safe. The only answer I am looking for is the exact date. OR even simpler, before or after the Draft? It will no doubt be a topic. When I met Ledecky at a preseason game, he was already proactive in communicating with season ticket holders and any issues they had with their seats/sightlines. I am sure he is trying to develop a good working relationship with Yormack, as there obviously need to be some alterations to the arena that will allow extra seating(revenue). It's all about $$$ so I am sure if they can sell more seats for at least 41 games/yr, they will do it.

I get where you're coming from here....However; I guess it's officially rant time since we all know this team isn't going to climb out of this hole and that's a big point to what I'm about to say....
This coach is not capable of leading this team out of this hole. Given the series score thus far, some may disagree, but this Islanders team is BETTER than the Lightning team they're losing to. (when accounting for Tampa's missing players)
The problem is this team continually has the same shortcomings year after year. The same issues that plagued them against Pittsburgh a few years ago were the same problems that did them in against Washington and the same that have essentially ended this season for them.

A: Mental lapses. This team plays DUMB hockey. DUMB. Constant bad line changes. Early and late period failures. Player assignments constantly missed which lead to excessive time in the d-zone. These three factors are all MENTAL errors. They aren't talent issues. They are recurring issues that a coach needs to pinpoint and correct. When they happen for 4-5 years consecutively, despite talent upgrades, you have to ask whose fault that is and it points to the guy behind the bench. PERIOD.

B. Powerplay struggles: Tonight was a combination of mental lapses due to intensity dropoff and the same typical disorganization/poor design we see over and over. When you have a 4 minute power play and go nearly 3 minutes with 1 shot, there's something wrong. Hell, we couldn't even gain the zone. Again, this is a coachable thing. This isn't talent. We have Tavares, Okposo, Strome Boychuk and Leddy. That's some pretty decent talent....yet we trot out 4 forwards and play perimeter hockey with no slot attack. COACHING.

C. BAD MATCHUPS: If your coach isn't taking full advantage by applying the proper players to the appropriate situations, especially on home ice, he has no business coaching in the post season. This doof has baffled us year after year. From Marty Reasoner toBailey to Bernier or whatever else, this guy has no friggin' clue of what really can pass in the NHL. NONE.

D. Player development: This is a HUGE one to me when you are farming young talents like Ryan Strome, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson, Ryan Poluck and others. You have to ask why virtually all of our young talent seems to continually regress under the development of this club. Ryan Strome was a better player in his rookie season than now...why? Brock Nelson plays like he's high...why? Supposedly this team draft-targets high IQ/character players. The fact is this coach continually opts for vets over young talent and seems only capable of slowing their growth. ..... COACHING.

lastly, and to Dan's point, the GM. Snow ultimately is responsible for insisting that guys like Weight and Cappy were the right men to continue for this season. He's flat out wrong. I'm not blaming him for personnel decisions because he DID get Vanek for JT nad the forward market sucked this year. But he HAS to see reasons A-D as well and know this team will NEVER win a Cup with someone who constantly puts his own players at a disadvantage. So on Sunday, they'll fight for their playoff lives. Yet can anyone here say with any certainty that they'll actually come out flying and play 60 minutes of intense, responsible hockey as thought they know what's on the line? I can't....because of the coaching....

Nice post, but i've watched too many years of sports to throw in the towel. This series is not over. Its not ideal, but its not over yet. One game at a time......phuck that, one period at a time.

just gotta get the first one, the hardest one to get. after you do that, a tiny seed of doubt is planted in the lightning.

and at that point, would they really beat the islanders 3 times on the road? this thing goes 7 if they win tmrw

Good article by Larry Brooks this morning. Here is the link. I liked one paragragh that probably tells it all and why they are down 3-1....

http://nypost.com/2016/05...les-are-merely-satisfied/

This isn’t a fair fight for John Tavares, whose time and space have been limited by the Lightning, and whose support as a franchise player has been limited by general manager Garth Snow’s inability — or refusal — to use some of the organization’s overflow of prospects as bait to acquire a worthy partner both to aid the center and deflect some of the attention and responsibility on No. 91’s back.

Enjoy the game...maybe today will be the start of a good week for the Islanders. If not, it was a nice ride but I wanted more...to the mom's out there...

I'm not holding my breath but being down 3-1 takes a little bit of Capuano out of the equation. There's not a whole lot to be "over"confident about and lack of intensity should not be an issue. Last years game 7 vs the Caps notwithstanding, this team usually plays it's best with it's back against the wall.

I'll add, I hope we can get this series to the max, because the last thing I want is that last second goal in game 3 to be the turning point of this series. The buffoon can tell the media whatever he wants to regarding "how they've done things all season," but having JT and Okposo on the ice in that spot is just not smart. How no one in the media never challenges him with a "tough" question, continually pisses me off. It's a dumb strategy that blew up in our faces and has set the tone for the rest of the series.

I agree with keaner's post, 100 percent. I'm not kicking dirt on this season until it's over but he made a lot of excellent points.

What drives me crazy is how the islanders sites have talked about how brilliant Capuanos coaching has been. It has been terrible imo what exactly has he done that was brilliant? That one personnel decision he made sabatoged this series. Brilliant my arse.

Larry Brooks is a Rangers fan, but not a tolerable one like most of the hb fans who drop by here. He is a horses ass who likes to slip his little digs into his articles. Like reminding us that the Isles had not won a playoff series since the 1st year of the Clinton Administration. Thanks Larry for that brilliant insight. Should I remind Larry that the Rangers have won exactly one Stanley Cup since the Roosevelt Administration?

There's something about Larry.......nobody can stand the guy......not even players on his favorite team. And never take anything he writes about the Islanders at face value. He has his own agenda. His criticisms of Snow ring hollow. Yup, we'd all like Snow to find an elite winger for JT. I am totally cool with guys here criticizing Snow for his failure to do so. But not for someone to criticize Snow when that someone is secretly happy at Snow's failures.

Edit: Brooks didn't even get his facts right. 1993 was the first year of the first Clinton Administration not the second year. Guy is an idiot.

I've been an Islanders fan since 1972 so some of the things he's said are pretty accurate...You need to take his writing with a grain of salt..

Can't argue with Rangers limited success trading youth and picks for MSL, Yandle and others but even a trip to the finals put you up against physically stronger and faster teams in the west.

As a critic of the Isles this team may need to draft for size on d, witness Hedman and others on TAM.

As a further critic of our team, we have not won a division or conference title which usually come to teams with youth as well as vet talent. Yes TAM is depleted but still a team that went to the finals.

But yes, let's not lay another egg (on national TV) like we did in WAS last year.

Yeah, I've been an Islander fan since the beginning, too. So what? That doesn't make Brooks' columns any better. He has zero insights when it comes to the Islanders.

At least we agree on one thing. Take his writing with a grain of salt.

BTW, I loved when Dan Boyle chased him from the press conference.

Brooks can't compare an Isles team which traded for Goring in 80 after they had won Divisions, Conference and overall pts (no pres trophy then) with this era. League wasn't as well balanced then.
