True Wedgie story:

The movie Jaws came out.

I was in grade 1 at the time.

My dad took my eldest brother to see it. By his own admission (he would have been in grade 6), he was so scared that he was afraid to take a poop in a toilet for about a year afterwards - just in case a shark swam up into the toilet and was waiting to bite him. Nope, I'm not joking.

So of course me and my other brother (no, we are not both named Darryl) wanted to see it.

For some bizarre reason, my dad wouldn't take us. I mean, what the hell? What kinda dad wouldn't take a six year old kid to see Jaws?

Anyhoo, I went to a friend's birthday party. We ate the hot dogs and cake, opened the presents, probably played pin the tail on the donkey. And then the father told us to all get in the back of his station wagon (ah, the simpler times, when you could pile a dozen kids in the back of a station wagon) - WE WERE GOING TO JAWS!!!!

So we went to the theatre at Fairview Mall. I was so excited I probably peed my pants.

IT WAS FRANKING SOLD OUT.

We ended up going to some stupid film about some stupid family moving to the stupid state of Alaska. Other than one scary scene with a bear, it was stupid.

I'm still bitter.

Mom took me to see Temple of Doom. I must've been 4 or 5. I puked in her lap when the dude pulls the guys heart out of his chest with his bare hands. My Dad was furious with her.

Nope.. 1/2 It is excellent, but I had chores to do.

For those of you who don't have time to read Jillian's new blog, here's a summary:

The Capitals are down 3-1.

Most of the time, teams don't come back from 3-1. But sometimes they do.

The Capitals are a good team. So if they do come back, they are going to have to do it by playing well as a team. Sure, you may get one guy or two being standouts...

But it's important they don't get down on themselves. They have to remain positive.

Whether they actually come back and win the series is something we will have to wait and see.

Unfortunately she doesn't say they will have to give 110%, but other than that she really hits all the targets in terms of vague hockey cliches.
