i also think he is going to benefit from having other offensive threats in the lineup... the leafs were so damn thin up front top 6 wise last year it was easy for defenses to key in on him

in a secondary role, where he belongs, i think he would thrive

Going to be a very interesting stretch for the Leafs over the next couple of years. With all the kids coming up, and more to be drafted, the competition level within the team should be very high. We should also have a very good AHL club for the next foreseeable future. Some players will have to show they are the fit for the future and other will show they are to be traded off.

Yup. The American team doesn't look to great. I thought Mathews looked quite solid tho, he's a completely different player then leafs other top guys like Nylander Marner.
