Flames have goaltending problems, the Jets have the solution: Ondrej Pavelec
Frolik and Pavelec are best friends from the old country.
Trade would look like:
To Calgary: Ondrej Pavelec
To Winnipeg: Calgary's 2016 2nd round pick
Good trade for both teams!!!! - TheUltimateJet
Imagine how amazing Calgary would be with Pavelec in net.

I would assume any NMC means you can't be exposed to an expansion draft. Gonna have to wait and see. - tomburton99
In the article, it says that only players with full NMCs need protected. |

Not sure if serious orrrrrrrr - The-O-G
A little of both. Although I understand its a rumor site, as a fan, I have ZERO interest in discussing anything that is going to happen in after the season while the playoffs are still going on. We wait all season for the playoffs, the team is playing great, why would I want to even worry about it right now? Live in the moment. The joy is in watching the games, not worrying about who has to be moved. Not to be an ass about it, but that's for people whose teams have already been eliminated and who have nothing else to do. MAF is a long tenured Penguin and hard choices will have to be made at some point, but for right now, I'm just glad he appears to be healthy and is back with the team. Everything else outside of the games is simply noise and a potential distraction. |

Only teams that really make sense:
Calgary - Fleury wont waive his NTC.
Dallas - Too much salary tied up in meh goaltenders.
Toronto - Best fit IMO.
Buffalo - Maybe he would like playing for Bylsma again.
Murray is not getting traded. Pens are Cap tight so its worth the risk passing the reigns to Murray if he continues his great play. A deal centered around MAF for JVR would make a lot of sense.

If Murray is your guy wouldn't Toronto be helping you out taking MAF and his contract? If so I would think JVR is a bit of an over payment. |

flames have 3, 2nd round picks. maybe they offer 2 of them to anaheim and pitt for fleury or anderson and see if one of them bites.
fleury has a no move clause if they anounce expansion or when they announce they have to clarify who can be protected and who can not, it's possible players with no move clauses are auto protected so the pens can then save both fleury and murray and would be in no rush to trade one |

Dallas could work. Pens would have to take back a goalie…pretty unlikely MAF will be moved without salary coming back.
Pens would have to add if jvr is going the other way imo.

It's not like MAF is dead weight. He is a upper tier goalie, and much better than anything Toronto has. |

Rumor out there is that only players with Full NMC will be auto protected. Fleury's is limited. |

I am sorry when did I imply he was dead weight? I think he is a great goalie but my question remains the same. If Murray is your guy are you going to pay MAF a truck load of money to be the back up or trade him and utilize the cap space elsewhere? |

Leafs can be patient. They can ride bernier out next year if need be and wait for an opportunity closer to the expansion draft to find a goalie. No reason to pay market now.
Fleury’s NTC will diminish his value. He’s also 31 and not cheap.
My guess is a package of quantity coming back and not a one where you are getting a top quality piece … like a jvr.

I have to imagine that if the Pens do trade MAF it will not be to any teams in the East. |

Ideally.
Other than dallas, I’m not sure they find a trading partner in the west that will be on his trade list.
I can't see jim nill giving up a ton to get him.

Not that you were super far off on the value, but I just don't see Treliving doing that. Dougie is his prized acquisition that really started coming into his own last year. If Calgary trades for a goalie they most likely will not be giving up any of their young core roster players (especially an older goalie that we may be forced to lose in the expansion draft anyway).
We have Jon Gillies in the AHL, he is the same age as Murray and (before this season anyway) was thought of just as highly as Murray. Depending on the rules of the expansion draft we may be forced to choose between our goalie of the future or the goalie we acquire this year.
If we trade for a goalie it will have to be a trade that doesn't cost us significant assets (think 2nd or 3rd round pick). The Flames will most likely also be in on Reimer, Bishop and Andersson so it's not as if we do not have options. |

I don't see why everyone thinks MAF wouldn't want to come to Calgary. Good city, with an up and coming team, and with him, a decent shot to win. Also a chance for him to be a full time goaltender too. |
