Did fans from opposing teams just agree on fare value for a mutually beneficial trade? Has this ever happened on hockeybuzz before? - Victoro311
Ya i figured roughly reversing the kessel trade is fair value.
Only concern I have is kapanen would be exposed in expansion draft and likely now our best asset. But that also means we wouldn't lose the next guy up |

I know there's not much to talk about here on Flyersbuzz since the Flyers are toast and there's not a wristband to be tossed anywhere, but how about you stop circulating rumors about the Pens (who by the way, are still in the playoffs) and let us enjoy the playoff ride? OK, EK? It's pretty lowbrow anyways to circulate this stuff when the team is on a roll and focused on winning. - Emperor Filonius
couldn't agree more as the players definitely are reading these boards.....pppffffffffffftttttttttt

From the leafs: an ok prospect, a mid-pick and bernier
More than that, I’d probably pass. - Tumbleweed

Can't expose guys who have NMC. Murray may not qualify to be exposed either. Not enough GP. - tomburton99
well you can if he doesnt feel like being a 2nd goalie... (AKA talk with MAF first) |

Shouldn't you wait a couple more games before anointing Murray as a franchise goalie? Like maybe something like half a season more at least? It's not the first time a goalie caught fire during the playoffs.
Not saying it's sure he's not, but maybe wait a bit first to be sure? Just think if Habs had traded Price and kept Halak after is phenomenal playoff a couple years back ... - Popofjc

Well we all know how much Penguins fans over value their players...so to be honest I still don't believe you were kidding. - The-O-G

I think if an organisation wants to win, they try & get what they need. Oilers will have to start thinking about competing 1 of these days, & I just can't see Talbot being their guy. Stars are in win now mode, if they get knocked out this round I think their first port of call is looking at their goalies. Sharks similar situation although Jones looks better than the others I've mentioned. Flames are waiting to be slapped in the face to wake up from their nightmare that was this season. Plus they have tradable pieces. As I said before I really think there is a market for Flower. - Aussiepenguin
There is a market for goalies but it's not as big as you would hope. As a western Canadian guy, I can tell you that the Sharks are very happy with Jones, and they should be. He's been very very good for them. Sure the Stars goalies could very much be upgraded but as another has said, in order for them to want a Fleury, they would either have to send one of those guys back to you or find another taker for at least one of them. They carry over $10mil in G salaries so swapping one of them for Fleury does not help their cap and likely makes it worse. CGY definitly need a goalie but as I've said earlier, I don't think Fleury would be the best candidate. His age and contract do'nt really align that well with where CGY are at in their rebuild. Now if they want to have stop gap until Gillies is ready, his 3 years remaining works well. Still, Treliving is not giving up good young assets or high picks for a 30 year old goalie at $5.75mil. EDM likes Talbot. VAN is married to Miller and Markstrom is in line to replace him when Miller's contract is over. TOR is in tank mode so paying assets for, again a 30 year old makes little sense. I think options are limited and a team looking to get assets back instead of potentially losing a goalie for nothing to expansion will try to get ahead of the game. |

Yes no one is thinking about what is in Pittsburgh's best interest.
A late 1st isn't worth it for a cup contending team to sacrifice important depth unless they have cap issues. Pittsburgh doesn't have cap issues. As you said a kunitz buyout is the worst case scenario to get cap compliant. And for a cup contender I'd rather have goalie insurance than kunitz and a late 1st. Goalie insurance saved our cup run this year. We have no reason to trade Fleury this offseason so we will want a proper return similar to Schneider, Kessel, jordan staal trades. Schneider being a high 1st. Kessel/Staal being a young former 1st round pick type prospect, a 1st, and B prospect. If no one pays that then you keep fleury.
And here's carey prices stats
2007–08 Montreal Canadiens NHL 41 24 12 3 2413 103 3 2.56 .920
2008–09 Montreal Canadiens NHL 52 23 16 10 3036 143 1 2.83 .905
2009–10 Montreal Canadiens NHL 41 13 20 5 2358 109 0 2.77 .912
2010–11 Montreal Canadiens NHL 72 38 28 6 4206 165 8 2.35 .923
2011–12 Montreal Canadiens NHL 65 26 28 11 3944 160 4 2.43 .916
2012–13 Montreal Canadiens NHL 39 21 13 4 2249 97 3 2.59 .905
Murray's save percentage has been much better at a similar age. - sditulli
Big difference between Fleury now and when Schneider was traded. Schneider had just turned 28 and wasn't making $5.75mil per. And you just can't compare goalies to fwd's, sorry. Kessell is a very high scoring fwd and NOTHING costs more than scoring. |

The (frank)ed up thing is that I do think Vancouver has delusions that they'll be contenders next year. Every move that Jim Benning has made over the past year suggests that he is unwilling to initiate a rebuild. - Victoro311
Nobody thinks the Canucks will do anything next year. They are in full rebuild, yes, Benning screwed up the TDL, but the prospect pool is getting better.
The def wouldn't trade for MAF. They already have an old goalie in Miller for next year, who I hope will lose his job to Markstrom. Plus they have Demko in the system. |

some of you must not actually watch hockey...Talbot was the Oilers MVP and the only reason for their modest improvement...they extended him during the season FFS |
