I think he might work good with the kids, from all accounts he was a big help with Matthews development.... something tells me BT is going to go way off the board though |

I kind of agree...BT was a little off the board himself, so hiring some old ex-coach doesn't seem to fit! |

I could definitely see that, though I think he still makes a strong pitch for BB first. There could be something to the Travis Green rumours but who knows, maybe he even digs into the CHL or NCAA.
Hopefully it doesn't backfire like the Eakins pick for the Oilers, remember at one time he was a highly thought of up and coming coach |

Boudreau would have a lot of positives coming to CGY, advantages that other interested parties likely couldn't offer. Regardless of how some people feel about Burke, he and Treliving hVe strapping hockey minds and could offer a very solid support system. Also, unlike OTT and his previous stop in ANA, CGY has an owner that has no issue spending $$ in his hockey club and would therefor have availability to all kinds of resources, not to mention an ability to outbid other owners with tighter pocket books. And, CGY is one of the better up and coming teams with a good foundation of youth that he could help mold. I can see him having strong interest if CGY offers something. |

From what I understand, the Ducks have not granted Calgary permission to talk to Boudreau. They've given permission to Minny and Ottawa only. Since he's still under contract to the Ducks, Calgary cannot sign him without an OK from them. |

Hey! If we hire Boudreau, we will have a coach who knows how to win games in Anaheim! |

For all the Edmonton fans that keep saying Eakins... The joke has passed. The entire league lol'd at you for years about him and MacT. Get over it. - Razzdazzle1

Na we hopin Travis Greene is still here, hes done wonders for our AHL team. - SRam19
Im not sold on Green until he shows something with an NHL team. His resume wreaks of similarities to Eakins and other guys coming out of the minors that couldn't cut it with an NHL team that was a bottom feeder. |

I would go for Dineen. His experience in Chicago is a huge plus. |

1) I've said this 100 times already but Bruce Boudreau is far and away the best candidate on the market.
Best experienced candidate, sure. I don't think that means he's the best candidate, necessarily. I would really like to see more written about Dineen. Seriously, a player turned coach, with some experience behind the bench and 2 years with the Blackhawks. Given that we seem to be showing similarities to the Hawks in our build, it makes some sense. - TandA4Flames
He sure achieved great successes in the playoffs with 2 very good teams, WASH and ANA.
He's all yours. |

Yea what about Paul Maclean?
He did good work with Anaheim's special teams apparently and leading a Sens group that wasn't that great either
Or Dave Cameron? He seems pretty good with the media, passionate about coaching, seems more like a player's coach
I'm also definitely interested in Dineen. |

Did a little bit of research on some of these coaches 5v5 possession numbers for their respective teams when they were head coach.
Bruce Boudreau: With Washington (2007-2012) Ranked 4th with 54% (from 2013-16 Washington dipped to 10th at 51.7%).
Anaheim before Boudreau (2007-2011) 50.4% after Boudreau (2012-16) 53.6%
Kevin Dineen: Florida (2011-2013) Ranked dead last with 42.1% (I'd want to be sure he has had a change in philosophy working under Quenville)
Mike Yeo: Minnesota (2011-15) Ranked 20th with 49.1%....might not be much of an improvement on Hartley.
Paul MacLean: Ottawa (2011-14) Ranked 16th with 49.8% (meh...but not like Ottawa was an all star team either).
Based on 5v5 possession alone BB (as Colin has said consistently) is the best choice of the bunch. His teams possession numbers improved when he was hired and declined when he was fired. The rest of these options had relatively poor possession teams when they were at the helm (Dineen's team was ranked far worse than CGY under Hartley and Florida also had a miracle season where they made the playoffs).

The playoffs are a different beast. Washington was stacked before and after Bruce and they haven't done (frank) all. Anaheim has a stacked team that hasn't won since 07. St louis and San Jose haven't done (frank) all with stacked rosters.
Playoffs is when intangibles come into play that are mostly out of the coaches control (i.e. Hot goalie, clutch players in the bottom 6, stars performing at the top of their game, puck luck, etc.). |
