Not sure you really need defensive dmen just to get shutdown pairs.

I am hoping Provorov is the real deal and is a shutdown dman. If he is as good as advertised I would want him against the other teams top lines when ready.

- J35Bacher

If Provorov is the same type of dman as Lindholm in Anaheim that would be great.

Morin does offer something Provorov does not which is raw size and reach, which is important when Streit, Schultz, Ghost, MDZ, Gudas, MacDonald and Manning are 6'1" or shorter.

Myers's goal from last night. Patience he showed to drift and find his lane, head up all the way, was nice. He's just so darn fluid for a big.

Provorov-Ghost
Morin-Hagg/Willcox/Friedman
Sanheim-Myers

I believe 1 or some of those names will be moved to fill offensive holes or upgrades in other ways.

Still..Who would have thought the Flyers could list that as a prospect pool?

I would like to go on record for saying I am against trading any of the following defensive prospects:

Provorov
Gostisbehere
Morin

- Streit2ThePoint

So we trade a veteran defenseman then...

"Does it diminish what the Flyers did against them in Round 1?
Losing in five games?"

Does it diminish Sam Donnellon's credability not knowing that it went to game 6?
I think, yes!

The modern day defensive defenseman are guys who protect their blue line like Fort Knox.
- PhillySportsGuy

This is what I hope comes from Morin. A guy with his size crushing anyone who tries to enter the zone near him. YES PLEASE! I would love him to hit like McGillis did before the lockout. But have the ability to recover if he missed unlike Big Dan.

In his defense isnt he saying that if the Caps lose to the Pens in 5 games then does that diminish what the Flyers did?

It is poorly written, but I think he means if Washington loses in 5 games.

And yes, the Flyers do have scoring issues, but otoh, the Penguins aren't facing the same Holtby that the Flyers did. He seems a little off this series, imho.

Lotsa puck luck from the Pens but they're also working their tails off and creating said puck luck.

he's been a downright wall at times and then others go through the five whole that appear to be inexplicable.

Exactly. I don't think it's as much puck luck as it is their generating a lot of chaos. Their speed always them to do it whereas the flyers were either shutdown or most of their chances were all to predictable

You're right, I think. Can we say the stupidest part of the article was this?

I do hope Jake gets out of his own head a bit as he matures. And that he ramps up his offseason training. Same thing with Claude Giroux. In years past, his lack of postseason productivity was often attributed to some undisclosed injury revealed after the season, almost always affecting his hands.

1. Jake has been a beast in the offseason the last two years, working harder than ever to trim himself and improve speed. He was hobbled this playoffs with injury. That has nothing to do with offseason training. And what does this have to do with maturity?

2. Giroux has the 3rd best playoff points per game (even with this series) of all active NHL players. "Lack of postseason productivity." Pffff

Amazed they won that game without Letang. I honestly think he has been the best player on the ice for much of this series.

It may be their year.

It's impressive how well guys like Daley, Hagelin, and Cullen have fit into their system plus the contribution from the younger guys.

I wonder if Fleury has played his last season there. That is a controversial idea but I think I'd look to trade him this summer because Murray looks like the real thing.
