Yep, kinda of a, "Sure, I'll play for you...for a ridiculous amount of money," type of thing.
- jmatchett383

Same way Hamitlon got out of Boston it seems.

All the stories about Hamilton wanting cash and then he has a cap hit of $5.75 million.

I'd offer the same money to Trouba and not think twice.

What do you think the odds are of 5 of those guys becoming top-6 defenseman is? Also, how many of them do you think will become a better all-situations defenseeman than Trouba? And lastly, how many of them can impact a game like he can within 2 years in all situations?

I'm not saying Trouba is the answer, simply that a proven yet young player like him is probably better short and near future term than an NHL unknown...but I wouldn't deal Provorov or Ghost for him.

- jmatchett383

So why bother talking about him?

I think I am all in on moving that first for a young RFA like Trouba. That seems like the best plan over a question mark at drafting 18 in what seems like a weaker draft in regards to impact players.
- J35Bacher

I agree. We have a very promising group of young defensive prospects, but only one of them has played in the NHL. You can be highly touted, but Trouba has proven (to an extent) that he can be a #1 all-situations type of player.

Now, again, I wouldn't move Ghost or Provorov for him, and maybe not Morin. But Sanheim I could part with for him. Winnipeg may not, at which point I move on.

Because you can't say for certain that it would take Provorov or Ghost, unless Winnipeg's GM confides in you.

I'm sure there are other offers out there that the Flyers could offer for him (say, for a crazy one, 5 consecutive 1st rounders).

Out of the A-list FAs (guess you can call them that) Eriksson is the one I am most comfortable with signing. Especially for the 30 or over group. Think we could also move on from Read even more so if we managed to sign him.
- arichardson22

I would be happy with either guy. I'm hoping both make it to the open market. It would be the most interesting July 1st in years.

I like Eriksson, but signing him is probably an unnecessary risk at this point

I have made my decision and I want the guy from Russia named German
- PhillySportsGuy

German Rubtsov...

He was the guy I said that I wanted back in February in a trade down scenario. Now we are right in his kitchen. He could be a hell of a pick. He plays a very Datsyuk like two way game (minus the wizardry). Kid has the making of a great second line center. If he is gone I want Max Jones.

Not really though.. Figure the draft, then we have free agency which is usually a couple of days. Then a few weeks of nothing. We at least have the olympics in August, and then September brings the World Cup of Hockey.

I was whining, but I think this summer is gonna FLY by.

Agree.

Because the goal would be to have a potential top pairing of Provorov and Trouba for years to come.

Worry about tomorrow tomorrow. Worry about today three years from now.

This is my mantra. You should try it.

FA has been snooze inducing lately.
I don't give a rat's patoot about the Olympics or the World Cashgrab of Hockey.
So, yeah, eternity for me.

If we are moving our 1st for a RFA, I'm going winger over Trouba. Or making a play for Drouin. And I don't think a Drouin trade is likely based on his current play and support from teammates and even Cooper

I would like to go on record for saying I am against trading any of the following defensive prospects:

Provorov
Gostisbehere
Morin

Well....would you want to live in Winnipeg, especially after living in the US (albeit the northern part) all of your life? Howard Berger once said that Winnipeg was the only place where his mustache actually froze.

Pronman has Gauthier as our mock pick.

I'd blow my lid if that's our pick. Idc if they select a d man even over him.

Based on past drafts, I think it's safe to say the team puts a lot of stock in the more recent play, so I don't see them going that route.
