Possibly, though he's bigger and skates better than Brendl. I wouldn't give up the store for him, but I'd still kick the tires. - BiggE
It would likely take a bit too much to get a guy who has drastically underachieved.

Yeah I don't see Barrie going anywhere.
I said my plan. I use the 1st rounder this year and Laughton to start and try to get Trouba.
Nichushkin would be my backup plan as I think maybe a change would help him. - J35Bacher
Trouba is a nice player, but he's not someone you really go into the offseason targeting. He's a second pairing defenseman who doesn't put up many points and is solid from a possession standpoint. Demers provides similar things and won't cost the first or the same financial commitment. I'll let someone else overpay for him. |

Well, he did miss almost an entire season with hip surgery, so I will attribute some of his slow start to that catastrophic setback.
Bill would have more insight on it than me for sure.

Trouba had a down year but he is also only 22 compared to 27 for Demers.
Trouba I also think has more number one potential and could be your top pairing dman with provorov in the future. Demers to me seems more like a 2nd pairing type guy. |

Agreed. I still won't give up Provorov or Ghost for him, and according to people within Winnipeg's inner circle (Feanor), they will not deal him unless one of them is involved. |

Yeah, I like him as a player, but he's gonna take a LOT of assets to acquire. Rather target somebody who 99% of other GMs won't be hot after... there's gotta be a RH MDZ this summer, right? |

When these gutless Caps get eliminated tomorrow night what is the excuse going to be? Can't win without Orpik?
Murray is eating Holtby's lunch.

If they lose, shall we forever refer to him as Alex Chokevechkin?

Trouba is still pretty young, and I believe he has potential to be an all situation top pairing guy. I think he's worth pursuing.

Im not saying there isnt a chance he could turn things around. Hell his rookie season was pretty decent for an 18 year old.
He is only twenty one, and he does have the size, speed, skill that we really are desiring on the wing... but I am not breaking the bank for the kid.

I get the feeling he's more Taylor Pyatt than Blake Wheeler. |

Absolutely not, and no one is suggesting otherwise. |

If you had to guess when Stolarz will be better than Murray, when do you think it will be? |

Hell he was compared to Ovechkin, and he is a shoot first guy (almost to a fault) and he only has 23 goals in 166 games. I hate comparisons, so I never really get caught up on them, but there were people really touting him as the next AO or Lindros like player with all of his size, skill and speed. His hip could certainly have contributed to his woes, but he didnt even score 10 goals this year. Also, he has always had questionable willingness to match his inconsistent play.
Again, he could come around and really start killing it, but I dont go out looking to trade to get him. If a deal that makes sense for both sides happens.. then I am all ears, but |

Most big goalies turn out to be underwhelming... I'd put more stock into Alex Lyon tbh. |

Bad analogy.
I should have said I am not seeking to trade for him. If Dallas comes calling with an offer we cant really refuse... then I will welcome him on board and hope for the best. |

It's a moot point. Winnipeg isn't dealing Trouba for the 17th/18th pick and a guy who projects more as a third liner. He's a nice player, but not worth targeting IMO. I think the more pressing need is finding young skill at the forward positions. |
