im okay with it - Crimsoninja
I second the motion. Especially with Hartley winning the Adams a year ago and getting canned this year.

I was an English Major... Polish is like Greek to me. I do know that sometimes J is pronounced as a Y, and W is sometimes pronounced as V, but not always.

It's kind of the Craig Berube thing... sometimes the timing of the pendulum swing can make you look like a genius. But yeah, Sullivan was smart enough to unleash his stars, particularly his puckmovers. Trading for Daley helped too.
As for Gallant... FLA rode high SH and SV %'s all year. I'm betting they come crashing back down to earth next season, a la Colorado from a couple of seasons ago. - Tomahawk
Florida is interesting. Gallant was always going to get a nomination...for the same reason Hartley and Roy did. Deserving or not. But Florida finished 19th in score adjusted CF%. Colorado and Calgary finished 25th and 28th in their respective years where they made the playoffs. Florida is also dragged down by a few slugs, like Mitchell, who are leaving soon; their core is very very young; they have a bonafide potential elite d man (of course Calgary has 2...what idiots over there)....they don't have to necessarily backslide. That they over-performed is w/out question. |

Yeah, if we're talking about who did the most with the least, for me it would be between Hak and Bill Peters. They really took teams that were playing the wrong way and got them on a solid foundation. - Tomahawk
I think both were...but rarely does a team that squeaked in and a team that didn't even make it into the playoffs have their coaches nominated. I think Bill Peters and Hakstol are fantastic though. When Carolina and Philly perhaps become two of the beasts of the east in several years, perhaps they will get their due. |

I highly doubt his going some place will be affected by having to compete for ice time. first and second line centers get plenty of ice time. He will base his decision on the most money or where he thinks he can win (perhaps a little of both together). - nastyflyergirl
They literally play the same spot on the PP... they'd have to compete over that. And the difference between the quality of wingers on the 1st and 2nd-lines is pretty huge... not sure Raffl and Schenn are the kinds of guys that UFA's are just dying to play with.
Agree on your last point, although I suspect he'll want to go somewhere that he can win AND be the 'guy' on the ice. Money, he's going to get that no matter where he goes. |

blues not doing monoke any favors really laying the body and taking the fight out of the stars. Reaves burying Ritchie the poor kid - Just5
Stars are a big team too though. And aren't these the perennial early exit choke artist Blues? Capitals Midwest? (Maybe not this year). You can build a contender like LA, Anaheim, San Jose; you can build it like Tampa, Chicago, Pittsburgh. Both are capable of winning. I just don't like the idea you need to be the biggest, baddest, and hit the hardest to win today. It's small potatoes compared to skill, smarts, and speed, which all of those teams have. Smaller teams beat bigger ones; bigger ones beat smaller ones. I don't think there's a ton of correlation either way. |

I think fringe playoff team is being generous. Practically the same team as last year except Ghost. Hak also had Couts, MDZ, Streit and Voracek all miss significant time. They all played the entire season (except MDZ LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL) under Berube. |
